The San Francisco Giants announced Tim Lincecum will miss the remainder of the 2015 season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left hip, but the team hasn't ruled out re-signing the impending free agent as his contract gets set to expire.

San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum's season is over after undergoing surgery to repair a nagging hip injury. 

John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle confirmed the news Thursday.

While some spend retirement traveling and golfing, Jeter is, oh wait, he is actually traveling and golfing.

But unlike Average Joe, he's traveling with a supermodel and on the golf course with POTUS. Jeter also takes time out from relaxation to collect awards, work on new business ventures and just generally crush his post-baseball life. 

Major League Baseball's richest somehow got even richer Thursday, as the Los Angeles Dodgers called up shortstop Corey Seager, one of the top prospects in the sport.

There aren't many miles between San Francisco and Los Angeles, but right now the defending champion Giants must feel like they traveled a long way just to get punched in the gut.

The final month of the MLB's regular season allows teams to expand their rosters to 40 players through minor-league call-ups or, more importantly, getting healthy starters back from injury.

Chicago Cubs star Kyle Schwarber was scratched from the team's lineup Wednesday with sore ribs.

The injury occurred during a check swing in the batting cage, according to Bruce Levine of CBS Chicago.
