Fantasy Baseball Two-Start Options: Week 12 (June 21-27)

It’s time to look at the potential two-start options for the upcoming fantasy week.

Chicago Cubs Alfonso Soriano Never Lived Up to Potential

Alfonso Soriano plays left field for the moribund Chicago Cubs. He is batting .267, with 10 home runs, 34 RBIs, and has stolen foures bases. In 2009, he hit .241.

At the age of 34, it is safe to say that Mr. Soriano will not have the career Derek Jeter predicted for him.

In 2001, Soriano hit the home run off Curt Schilling that was supposed to bring the New York Yankees' fans their fourth consecutive World Championship. It would have been the third time sports greatest dynasty accomplished the feat, but it never happened.

New York Yankees Derek Jeter In Sunday's Lineup, Heel Feels 'Great'

I just wanted to give everyone an update from our earlier notes.

Jason Hammel & Angel Pagan: Fantasy Baseball's Waiver Wire Winners

Every week, aside from my standard Fantasy Baseball dealings, I practice a little exercise to improve my research and team management skills.

On Sunday evenings I comb through who is available on the waiver/free agent wire, regardless of need, to familiarize myself with the current inventory.

MLB Trade Rumors: 15 Players Likely On The Move

It's already June 18th, and the Major League trading deadline is just over six weeks away.

Some teams like the Mariners and Nationals are clear sellers willing to move potentially helpful veteran players for prospects. Others, like the Dodgers, Angels, and Red Sox, sit on the edge of playoff contention, needing another piece or two to try and compete for a championship.

Who might be on the block? And who would be interested? Let's take a look.

Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 6/19/10

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday:

Yankees Notes: Hughes, Jeter, Burnett, Aceves, Thames

Yesterday was a showdown between two young starters with 9-1 records. The Yankees' Phil Hughes came out on topas the Yanks beat the Mets 5-3 . Now 10-1, Hughes looks like a strong candidate for the All-Star game.

Here are some notes:

Jose Bautista, Another Gem The Pittsburgh Pirates Dumped

Jose Bautista, a gem? With his .222 batting average? This is just another case where a player's "headline" number is rather misleading.

It's true that Bautista has "only" 52 hits in 234 at bats. But 18 of those, or more than one-third of the total, are home runs. Another 15 have gone for two or three bases. Meaning that when he does hit, it's usually not a single.

Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors: June 19: Chase Utley, Jered Weaver & More

Chase Utley is finally showing signs of turning things around.  Justin Smoak is hitting up. and Jered Weaver has suddenly become a strikeout machine.
