Disaster struck today when the Colorado Rockies placed Troy Tulowitzki on the DL with a broken wrist.  He is expected to miss six to eight weeks or approximately 30-40 percent of the entire fantasy baseball regular season.  

At an already top-heavy position where the drop-off is significant after the elite players, fantasy owners need to make a quick decision.  You don’t want to put yourself in a position where you have to pick up a new SS every week because of lack of production. This strategy just wastes moves and fuels frustration.

Since John Maine left the rotation for the DL, the Mets have led the league in wins, going 19-5. Why? The rotation leads the league during the same stretch of time with the lowest earned run average.

With John Maine coming back from the DL soon, everyone is wondering whether Jerry Manuel will leave Takahashi in the rotation and ask Maine to go into the bullpen, or the reverse.

We're far from Thanksgiving, but this time of year in the sports world has me comparing the feast to current events. We're all now stuffed from the NHL Stanley Cup Finals and the tasty NBA Finals, relaxing while enjoying whatever is on television, such as World Cup action.

As for Phillies baseball, its course is still pre-heating in the oven. The All-Star Game is looming, and plenty of questions are barraging the defending National League Champions. Get your pot-holders ready.

Cliff Lee just finished perhaps his best start of the season—thus proving once again that he should not be traded.

Lee (5-3), lowered his ERA to 2.55. He allowed no runs and struck out seven Cincinnati Reds batters in a complete game. It was his second complete game of the season.

NEW YORK-- Now we can say that the Mets are an elite team, and a force to be reckoned with. After winning six consecutive road games against teams that they should beat in the Orioles and Indians, the Mets not only went into Yankee Stadium and beat the Yankees for their eighth straight win and seventh on the road trip, they shut them out.

Almost everyone was predicting the Mets to lose this opening game, and that starter Hisanori Takahashi would get rocked hard. Neither of those happened, as Takahashi for the second time this season, shut the Yankees out over six innings.

I have been watching much more baseball in the 2010 season then I have in any other year. This really should be a sin of the highest degree considering I call myself a Phillies fan, and all I watched was their 2 World Series runs, previous to this year.

The reason I choose to write on the topic of shortstops is it seems to be the most argued on and most talked about position. Aside from the few perfect games that have been pitched, but generally speaking, this is a very heated topic.
