In the bottom of the eighth inning of Friday night's game, Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock made a great play to keep the San Francisco Giants off the board.

The Giants were able to muster all of one hit through the first seven innings of the game. However, they entered the eighth trailing just 2-0.

In a 2-2 game Friday night against the Miami Marlins, Washington Nationals manager Matt Williams went to check on pitcher Max Scherzer during the top of the seventh inning, with only one out to go.

But Scherzer didn't need a pep talk. He was plenty fired up.

Scherzer could be seen screaming, "I want this! I f-----g want this! I f-----g want this!" as his manager approached the mound. And that was all Williams needed to hear.

A former first-round pick of the Tampa Bay Rays has been arrested in connection with an ongoing double-homicide investigation in Corona, California.

Oakland Athletics minor league pitcher Mike Nolan was the victim of a drive-by shooting attack in New York early Friday.   

According to Lori Bordonaro of NBC 4 in New York, police officials confirmed Nolan was shot in the head and is listed in serious condition. 

Former President Jimmy Carter was put on the Kiss Cam at the Atlanta Braves game Thursday night.

He delivered.

The 90-year-old is undergoing cancer treatment, but it was great to see him having fun at the ballpark with his wife and former first lady Rosalynn Carter despite Atlanta's 5-0 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.

In the second inning against the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night, the Los Angeles Angels did just that—and the reigning American League MVP delivered.

Trout took A.J. Achter's pitch deep to right-center field and gave his Angels a 6-5 lead. It was his 37th long ball of the season.
