Blue Jays-White Sox: Where's the Offense?

After struggling against the Yankees against very effective pitching with CC Sabathia and Andy Pettitte, the Jays are looking for a rebound against the struggling Chicago White Sox.

Chicago's White Sox have badly struggled recently, with injury woes and underperformance in their offense and starting pitching. In the Cleveland series, Gavin Floyd struggled, giving up eight runs in the outing. With his opposition being Roy Halladay on Sunday, Floyd will have to be better or the White Sox will be in trouble.

Clayton Richard is still hard to predict at the moment because of his recent movement into the starting rotation, replacing Jose Contreras. Bartolo Colon was horrid against Texas on Sunday, giving up five runs and struggling with command and control.

John Danks, who starts on Friday, may be the most dominant starter of this weekend with a 3.41 ERA. However, he has been inconsistent of late.

Another problem for the White Sox has been the lackluster offense. They are currently hitting only .251 and playing disappointing defense in the process.

Josh Fields, the third baseman, has five errors at that position, below average defensively for a third baseman.

Overall, the White Sox's lack of offense is partially responsible for their 15-18 record. Little relief is expected in this series.

PROJECTED PITCHERS

FRIDAY

Brett Cecil vs. John Danks

SATURDAY

Robert Ray vs. Bartolo Colon

SUNDAY

Roy Halladay vs. Gavin Floyd (I'll be at this game, BTW)

MONDAY

Scott Richmond vs. Clayton Richard.

PROJECTION

Unclear, but the Jays should take three of four, with the lackluster offense of the White Sox, and the fact we will miss Mark Buehrle in the rotation.  Also, Jermaine Dye is expected to miss two games due to suspension, which could be an advantage for the Jays.
