Breaking News: Dodgers Claim Rod Barajas Off Waivers From Mets

The New York Mets recently put Rod Barajas on waivers, and the Los Angeles Dodgers picked him up today.

The Dodgers are getting a great player. Barajas is a fantastic clubhouse guy who handles the pitching staff extremely well. While he may not be the best hitter, he does hit home runs occasionally.

Last offseason, the Mets were in dire need of a catcher. They focused on Bengie Molina, and I was upset about that. I really wanted Barajas on the Mets, and I got my wish.

Negotiating wasn't working well with Molina and the Mets set their sights on Barajas. The Mets and Barajas inked a deal a week into spring training. It was love at first sight. He worked with pitching staff extremely well and was a great power bat early in the season.

Barajas got injured and that allowed Mets' prospect, Josh Thole, to get a lot of playing time and he was impressive. Thole pretty much stole Barajas' job.

I wish Barajas the best of luck with his new team. He will be missed, but this was the right move for the Mets. This is a small step forward for the Mets and their youth movement.

They are going to try and groom Thole to be the Mets' catcher for the long term. The Mets are making some good moves and I hope that continues.

I hope that Barajas has a great experience with the Dodgers and that Josh Thole proves to the Mets that they made the right move.
