Cliff Lee: Angels In the Mix to Sign Coveted Free Agent Arm

Cliff Lee is easily the most coveted free agent pitcher on the market this season, but the dominant left seems to have whittled his choices down to just three: the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, and most recently, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

According to reports, the Angels, who are also in the running for big name free agent outfielder Carl Crawford, have apparently been courting Lee, although they have yet to make an offer to sign the pitcher.

The Yankees and their deep pockets are believed to be the most likely destination for Lee, as the team has rarely lost a free agent it has coveted in recent years. But the Rangers' pockets are just as deep, and the Angels have the cash to splash Lee's way, if they see fit to do so.

The lefty was an integral part in the Rangers' World Series run this season, and went 12-9 with a 3.18 ERA last season. He reportedly wants a six or seven-year deal, in the range of $140 million.
