Lowell Spinners VP/GM Bawmann Named NY-Penn Exec of the Year

The Lowell Spinners, Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, are happy to announce team Vice President and General Manager Tim Bawmann has been named the 2009 New York-Penn League Robert Stedler Executive of the Year.

Bawmann, a native of Rock Island, Ill., has been with the Spinners since 2003, earning a promotion to Vice President in January 2007. During his time with the organization, the Spinners have sold out every game played at LeLacheur Park and made three appearances at the Futures at Fenway minor league doubleheader.

2009 was a challenging season for the Spinners, as the organization faced rain in their first 11 home dates, and rain on over half of their dates during the summer, as well as an uncertain economy that saw many families tighten their spending. Despite these challenges, the Spinners not only played in front of sold out crowds for the entire season, but lost only one date due to a tropical storm that simply would not allow the game to be played.

"You are only as good as the people around you," said Bawmann of his Spinners staff. While this is an individual accolade, I regard this as team/staff recognition, from the front office staff on down to the game day employees.

The NY-Penn League Executive of the Year award was renamed for Robert C. Stedler following the 2008 season and Bawmann is the first executive to win the newly renamed award.

"This is a great honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone on staff," said Bawmann. "We want to be the best at what we do and this is a sign of recognition that we are doing things well."

Bawmann, who also serves on the NY-Penn League's Board of Directors, the Greater Merrimack Visitors and Convention Bureau Board of Directors, and the Greater Lowell Boy's and Girl's Club Board of Directors, has overseen a staff that has shattered sales and attendance records since his arrival, gaining national attention for their Yankees Elimination community promotion.

Entering his seventh season with the organization, Bawmann resides in Nashua, NH with his wife, Kelley, and children, Chloe (14) and son Elijah (10).
