Mariners-Rangers: Hank Blalock Saves Texas in Extra Innings

Following Wladimir Balentien's RBI double off C.J. Wilson in the top of the 11th inning, the Seattle Mariners appeared to have won their matchup against the Texas Rangers.

Luckily for the Rangers fans, Brandon Morrow still had to face the heart of the Rangers' dangerous lineup.

After Michael Young's single to lead off the inning and a Josh Hamilton walk, Hank Blalock hit a double to deep right-center, scoring both runners. It was Blalock's only hit of the night in six at-bats. Wilson was credited with the win.

While Texas starter Brandon McCarthy struggled in the early innings of the game, allowing home runs to Adrian Beltre, Kenji Johjima, and Russell Branyan, he held the Mariners to four runs over seven innings while recording seven strikeouts and only one walk.

Eddie Guardado and Darren O'Day combined for two innings of relief, one hit, three strikeouts, and one walk in the win.

Seattle starter Jarrod Washburn also allowed four runs over six innings of work, recording five strikeouts and four walks.

Josh Hamilton continued to impress in his return from the DL, hitting a two-run home run while gaining three walks and scoring three runs.

Blalock, Young, and Andruw Jones doubled for the Rangers and Elvis Andrus hit an RBI triple to tie the game at four in the sixth.
