Milwaukee Brewers Acquire Starting Pitcher Shaun Marcum From Blue Jays

Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has reported via Twitter that the Milwaukee Brewers are in the process of completing a trade for RHP Shaun Marcum, 28, of the Toronto Blue Jays.

According to one of his sources, the Brewers will be sending minor league pitching prospects to Toronto. There is no word on who they may be at this time.

Upon being contacted by Haudricourt, Brewers General Manager Doug Melvin said, "I can't say anything about it, really. It's not completed yet."

That is certainly protocol until the I's are dotted and the T's are crossed.

Marcum has proven to be an effective starting pitcher for the Jays and is a solid addition to the middle of the rotation. He is not a top of the rotation difference-maker, however.

I sure hope the Brewers aren't finished looking for one of those. A staff of third and fourth starters is still not good enough to get where the Brewers need to be. It is obvious that they did acquire a pitcher who has been able to get major league hitters out.

Hopefully this is just the beginning of the reshaping of the Brewers 2011 roster. Now that you've got momentum, let's keep things moving forward. I heard that a team that wears red socks is looking for a first-baseman again. You might want to check that out as well.
