Phillies' Offense Silenced by Burrell's Rays

Jamie Moyer and J.A. Happ both pitched well for the Phillies today, but the offense failed to get anything going, as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Philadelphia by the score of 3-2 this afternoon. Pat Burrell scored a run against his old team.

Moyer allowed six hits in five full innings, and only walked one batter. Two runs were charged to the veteran pitcher.

Happ made the best of his three innings, allowing only one run on a solo home run by Gabe Kapler. A day after another meltdown from the Phillies' Kyle Kendrick, Happ made a strong case for being the team's fifth starter, which is the big story line going on through the spring schedule. Happ walked one and struck out one.

It was a tough day for offense on both sides. The Phillies' Raul Ibanez and Ryan Howard were both held hitless, as were prospects Jason Donald and John Mayberry Jr.

Jayson Werth was scratched from the game before the first pitch, and Jason Ellison could not do much in his place, going 0-for-3 on the day as well.

Andy Tracy hit a solo home run for the Phillies.

The Phillies will play tomorrow against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Joe Blanton is scheduled to start for the Phillies.
