Rain Delay Lines New York Mets' Johan Santana Up to Start in Philly

Earlier in the day, I wrote about how the rainout could cause the Mets to burn through an already taxed bullpen, but I left out some good news.

The rain delay has caused a change to the starting rotation. Oliver Perez and Johan Santana are now pitching on the same day.

Well, according to Mike Puma of the NY Post , the Mets are now going to change their rotation around, and ace Johan Santana is now scheduled to pitch against the Philadelphia Phillies this Sunday.

This isn’t earth-shattering news, but the Phillies are probably the toughest team in the National League. Lining up their best starter against them, instead of Perez, gives them a much better shot at keeping up with the Phillies in the NL East.

It’s just one game, but it could end up helping the Mets to a pair of wins instead of one.

Hey, every little bit helps.
