Redlegs Continue To Impress

The Reds are a funny team. In two games with their makeshift lineup, the Reds have found ways to win. I doubt I’m the only one who’s surprised.

By the time I got a chance to write a recap, I was way too tired to put together even one sentence.

All you need to know is…

Joey Votto, Brandon Phillips, and Alex Gonzalez were out of the lineup last night. Again.

The Reds had Joel Pineiro’s number early on scoring five runs in the first two innings.

Johnny Cueto is maturing right before our eyes each and every time he starts. Something I’ve noticed about him is that he won’t throw his hardest until inning six or seven. You think he’s tired and running out of steam, then he blazes one in there at 94-95 MPH. The kid is electric.

David Weathers finally gave up some runs. I can’t complain about Weathers’ performance because he didn’t lose the game for us and he’s been lights out all season. Eventually, he had to have a game like this. I’m just glad it came during a win.

Everyone but Laynce Nix had a hit. Of course this would happen after Dusty finally says he’s going to start. He did, however, make a couple nice catches in left field.

Oh yeah, the last and most important thing you need to know: The Reds won. They beat might Albert Pujols and his Cardinals 6-4. In fact, Albert went 0-4 with a strikeout. That doesn’t happen very often. Which leads me to my next topic:

Tonight

With Prince Albert going 0-4 last night, you gotta believe we have angered The Machine. I hope he doesn’t wake up and slap us around tonight.

Hopefully Joey Votto and Brandon Phillips will be able to support their big right hander, Aaron Harang. He faces former Red-turned-All-Star, Kyle Lohse.

I remember Lohse’s first start against the Reds last season. Of course him being a former teammate was the Fox Sports Ohio story line of the night and they spoke as if he would come out of the chute with a chip on his shoulder. He may have, but he got absolutely rocked by the Reds. It was pretty cool.

I’ll be going to this one, so I won’t have any new posts up for a while. Hopefully I’ll have plenty of pictures when I do.

Speaking of pictures and former Reds, how about this one from last night up at the top? That’s the Redlegs’ former catcher, Jason LaRue. When I saw that I laughed and then I thought of this:

Looks like LaRue’s taken a page out of the Jason Giambi book. That or a truck driver. Or a creep.
