Reds-Yankees: Bruce Error Kills Reds

Micah Owings was on the mound as he pitched his last game to audition for the No. 5 spot in the starting rotation. Owings pitched into the sixth, but was pulled out with the bases loaded. He gave up four runs (one earned), five K's, three walks, and six hits. A Jay Bruce three-run error in the fourth with two outs buried the Reds' hopes for good.

Nick Masset pitched up and down in two innings of work.

Josh Roenickie and Francisco Cordero pitched well, as they worked one inning each of scoreless relief.

Jay Bruce and Joey Votto both had two hits and an RBI each, as the Reds' bats were quiet once again. Catcher Ramon Hernandez also chipped in with an RBI single.

The Reds are on a three-game losing skid and they are now a mediocre 13-18 for spring.

Up next, the Reds head to Kissimmee, FL to take on the Houston Astros for their final game of the 2009 spring.
