Roy Oswalt and Pink Help Houston Astros Sweep San Diego Padres

You're probably thinking, "Roy Oswalt, I get, but PINK?!"

No, I'm not talking about the sometimes-blond, sometimes-pink-haired pop star, but rather the pink bats for Mother's Day.

Roy O got his first win of the season while the Astros' offense exploded, as Houston completed a three-game sweep of the San Diego Padres 12-5.

Twelve runs! Maybe Houston should use the pink bats full-time. Maybe they should change their team colors from black, brick-reddish-orange, and sand to pink.

OL, I'm kidding, but I do hate their railroad uniforms and wish they're return to a classic Astros look.

There indeed must be something about those pink bats. Miguel Tejada, Carlos Lee and Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez all homered for Houston. Lee also doubled, while Rodriguez hit a triple. Hunter Pence added a double.

Heck, even Oswalt got a hit! He went 1-3 and scored a run to raise his batting average to a sizzling .143. Maybe soon they'll let him order bats with his name on them.

Houston had 16 hits, while the Padres hurt themselves by committing two errors.

Oswalt's day on the mound wasn't perfect, but he'll certainly take the win: Six innings, six hits, four earned runs, two walks and four strikeouts, with homers yielded. His ERA on the season is 4.50.

Houston's now 14-17, two games ahead of the NL Central cellar-dwelling Pittsburgh Pirates. They're off tomorrow and will travel to Denver to take on the Colorado Rockies at Coors Canaveral...er, Field.
