Seattle Mariners Acquire Outfielder Ryan Langerhans From Washington

Seattle Mariners General Manager Jack Zduriencik announced today that the M's acquired outfielder Ryan Langerhans from the Washington Nationals in exchange for Mike Morse. He will most likely be on the 25-man roster as soon as third baseman Adrian Beltre hits the disabled list.

Since the M's lost leftfielder Endy Chavez for the season, they were looking to add depth in the outfield. Langerhans will likely be the team's fourth outfielder.

Langerhans, who was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1998, posted .278 batting average, nine home runs, and 40 RBIs for Triple-A Syracuse this season. He never got a call to the big league this year since the Nationals already had depth in the outfield.

Morse, drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2000, posted .312 batting average for Triple-A Tacoma and was a candidate to replace injured Beltre.
