Choo Leaves vs. Astros With Back Spasms
Friday, April 10
Choo is hoping for a bounce-back season in 2015, but it may have to be put on hold after he picked up an injury during Friday's game against the Houston Astros.
According to Rangers Executive Vice President of Communications John Blake, the 32-year-old veteran left the contest with back spasms:
His day-to-day recovery time suggests that his status is uncertain, which isn't surprising considering the unpredictability of back spasms.
To make matters worse for Texas, Choo's injury came after starting pitcher Derek Holland was already forced to exit the game as well, per the Astros' official Twitter account:
Choo is just two seasons removed from a season that saw him finish 12th in the NL MVP award voting with the Cincinnati Reds, and while 2014 was a wash, he seemed to be getting back in the groove with a home run Thursday.
If the Rangers are to turn things around this year, then the Korean outfielder will have to be a big part of it.
Until he is able to return, though, Texas' depth will be tested, which is something that didn't work out very well in 2014.
