Under the Radar Reds: Up-and-Coming Pitcher Daniel Ray Herrera

For the first time in many seasons, the Reds have a very solid and deep pitching staff to excite the fan base.

Most of the baseball world forgets that Cincinnati received Daniel Ray Herrera with Edinson Volquez in the Josh Hamilton trade before last season. As it happened, Herrera was actually the deciding factor in the deal with the Texas Rangers.

D-Ray saw action in only seven games last season, but he quickly gave us a glimpse of waht's to come for this very talented and hard-working player. Though he's just 24 years old, we can clearly see that the man's future is bright.

Herrera has pitched almost perfectly this spring, as he has retired a very impressive 25 of 26 batters in 7.2 innings of work in eight appearances this spring. D-Ray also has a very nice eight K to zero BB, and a brilliant 0.00 ERA.

I believe that Daniel Ray Hererra should make the 25-Man Opening Day roster for 'Nati, and he has showed why with his pitching this spring. Herrera has very nasty stuff and can fool hitters at the major league level with his mechanics.

GM Walt Jocketty and manager Dusty Baker have a no-brainer here and need give little thought to the matter: Just get him.

If you’re not a Reds fan, you may not know who Daniel Ray Herrera is or what he brings, but it won’t take long for the sporting nation to see one of the hidden gems of the Bigs.
