Yankees First Spring Training Cuts

The Yankees made their first cuts today; J.B. Cox, George Kontos, and Kanekoa Texiera were re-assigned to minor league camp, and Andrew Brackman was optioned to Class-A Charleston.

Andrew Brackman had a 6.00 ERA in three games. Final line: 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 0 K

J.B. Cox had a 7.71 ERA in two games. Final line: 2.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 1 K

George Kontos had a 27.00 ERA in two games. Final line: 1.1 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 1 BB, 3 K

This is intended as a counter argument to thoughts expressed by Mr. Todd Civin. I think his comments about the Yankee’s weaknesses are actually very thorough and obviously he did some good research, and has a very good knowledge about baseball.

However, I really think some of those comments are unfair to what can turn out to be a great Yankee’s team in 2009.

I was at his debut game in 2006, sitting through a five hour rain delay (that was actually the day that The Player to Be Named Later and I discovered how to get into Fenway without tickets, so we left and came back for the start of the game) to watch what was supposed to be the first game of a doubleheader.
