Alfonso Soriano Should Be Traded by the Chicago Cubs Right Now

There's a saying that goes you should "strike while the iron is hot." Well right now, Alfonso Soriano is incendiary, and I say this is the best time to explore trade options for the Cubs mercurial left fielder.

In his last three games, Soriano has slammed four homers and driven in 10 runs.

On the season, he's batting .325 with 6 HR, 17 RBI, and (for you stats geeks out there) an incredible .1057 OPS.

2010 Fantasy Baseball: Week Four Hot Streak Report

I can’t believe it has already been a full month of baseball. Here are the guys who knocked the cover off the baseball this past week.

Game No. 17 – Chicago Cubs vs. New York Mets

Bob Brenly Takes Swipe at Alfonso Soriano, Shot at Lou Piniella

On WSCR "The Score" this morning, Cubs analyst Bob Brenly was asked about Alfonso Soriano's reaction to not running hard out of the box on a double in Monday's game.

To set the stage, Soriano admired what he thought would be a home run in the batter's box on a hit that should have been a triple.

When asked about it, Soriano said he hit the ball hard and that's all that matters.

On the Danny Mac Show, Brenly responded to Soriano's comment by calling him "selfish" and saying that he would have pulled the Cubs left fielder from the game.

Will the Cubs' Alfonso Soriano Be Benched?

As all of us who saw the game, know what kind of game Soriano had in the outfield today.  Well so did uncle Lou apparently. In his post game comments to the press he said,"Obviously if we're not scoring runs we'll have to put our best defense out there, thats for sure." Get ready for the possibility of a heavy dose of Tyler Colvin, &/or Xavier Nady in the days ahead.

That's if it's not just Lou's frustration talking, although he didn't appear to be angry when he said it.

Will the Cubs Bench Alfonso Soriano?

So does Uncle Lou, apparently; In his post game comments to the press he said, "Obviously if we're not scoring runs we'll have to put our best defense out there, that's for sure." Tyler Colvin on Verge of Making Cubs: Alfonso Soriano Could Lose Playing Time

Young outfielder Tyler Colvin will make the Chicago Cubs' Opening Day roster if the team can find him sufficient playing time, according to manager Lou Piniella . Colvin, 24, would need to get somewhere in the neighborhood of two starts per week in order to justify keeping him on board, by Piniella's reckoning.

Chicago Cubs' All-Decade Team

In the last ten years, Cubs fans have seen their share of disappointing seasons, bad trades, over-hyped prospects and greedy super stars.

No other franchise in the entire MLB has experienced more disappointment then Chicago, and here is a tribute to the best players that graciously took the blame.

102 years of painful seasons has made the Wrigley faithful the most loyal and passionate fans in all of sports, though times may seem tough.

Though thousands of players have set foot into the hallowed walls of Wrigley Field, these athletes have proven to be the best since the Y2K.

Chicago Cubs Position Breakdown: Outfield

This article was originally published at TheDailyCub.com , my blog that covers all things Chicago Cubs.

The Cubs' outfield has been extremely expensive over the past couple of years, and the team has failed to get its money’s worth as they sign free agent after free agent to big contracts without much, if any, improvement.
