If the Kansas City Royals taught the world anything in going to the World Series in 2014 and winning the Commissioner's Trophy in 2015, it's that defense matters. Like, a lot.

Apparently, the Los Angeles Angels were paying very close attention.

The Miami Marlins are apparently on the verge of trading a budding young star, as the Seattle Mariners are reportedly working to obtain outfielder Marcell Ozuna, per ESPN.com's Jerry Carsick. In fact, MLB.com's Joe Frisaro noted Ozuna could be part of a bigger deal. 

Catchers generally get plenty of chances to prove themselves in Major League Baseball, and veteran backstop Geovany Soto now has a new lease on life after agreeing to a deal with the Los Angeles Angels in free agency.

The Chicago White Sox and Colorado Rockies pulled off a minor trade on Tuesday, with reliever Tommy Kahnle going to the White Sox in exchange for minor league right-hander Yency Almonte. 

Scott Merkin of MLB.com first reported the deal.

Well, good luck convincing the Miami Marlins to do it. But if you can...well, let's just say you have the right idea.

From the sound of things, you'd think Robinson Cano is the worst baseball player, the biggest whiner and the most despicable human being ever.

In reality, he's not that bad of a guy. Or that bad of a player, really.

But if ever there was a time to acknowledge the honeymoon phase of his 10-year, $240 million contract with the Seattle Mariners is over, it sure seems like now.

The Miami Marlins are reportedly listening to offers from teams interested in trading for second baseman Dee Gordon, per Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

The Seattle Mariners announced on Monday they have signed veteran catcher Chris Iannetta to a one-year deal.

Contract terms weren’t disclosed, though Greg Johns of MLB.com indicated it's a major league deal:
