Bobby Abreu: The Biggest Mistake Brian Cashman Has Made in the Last Two Years

Since it remains to be seen whether the Curtis Granderson deal will work out for the Yankees, this writer will withhold criticism on that deal, although there is still a chance it may be a bust.

So in considering the worst mistake Yankee General Manager Brian Cashman has made in the past two years, focus will be on the one he let get away.

Bobby Abreu was acquired from the Philadelphia Phillies and at the end of the 2008 season he became a free agent.

Bobby Abreu Re-Signs with LA Angels: One Big Free Agent Down, Three To Go

The most exciting event in baseball happened in the last 24 hours.

That's right, Bobby Abreu resigned with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim!

Let's face it, I care more about my dog's opinions on philosophy than the achievements of the New York Yankees. Congrats to them on a great year and all, but I can't wait to beat them next season.

On the other hand, Abreu signing a two-year extension for $19 million with a club option for 2012 is truly thrilling, especially for Angels fans.

New York Yankee Haters Unite: We're Three Wins Away from a Victory for Baseball

The year was 1995.  I was 12-years old.  And I fell in love for the first time.

Hard.

And anybody who was living in Seattle in the time can tell you who I fell for, because 1995 is perhaps the fondest year remembered in the modern Seattle era.

New York, Anaheim ALCS Series Should Start Tuesday Night

One of the best sidelines to the upcoming New York Yankee vs. Los Angeles Angels American League Championship is that each team will go against one of their former players. Mark Teixeira was traded for by the Angels last season, hoping that his acquisition will lead them to the World Series.

YANKS MOVE FORWARD! Are The Halos Ready for the Bronx?

So, at the beginning of this season I wrote that the Yanks had a shot. All the Bawston guys were yelling through their keyboards at me. Hmmm.

Turns out I was right. Turns out that having Texieria, Posada, Swisher, and Cabrera—all switch hitters—in one lineup is pretty annoying for opposing teams. The main hitters in this fall roundup are:

A-Rod: .455

Jeter: .400

Posada: .364

Is Bobby Abreu The Best Offseason Signing?

There he was waiting for anyone to grab him. He was just sitting there, waiting for someone to make an offer. It wasn’t until February 11th that Bobby Abreu signed with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, and he produced all right.

The former All Star signed a measly one-year, $5 million contract, compared to the $16 million he had made the previous year with the Yankees. Looking at all the offseason acquisitions, I really think Bobby Abreu was the best value.

Bombers Banter: Wang Vs. Hughes and Yanks Vs. NL

Welcome to the latest edition of Bombers Banter, the New York Yankees round table.  As the Bombers battle Boston for the division lead and the best record in the AL, we look ahead to interleague play and discuss the Yanks' abundance of starting pitching, as well as the new Stadium.

If you would like to take part in future Bombers Banter discussions, post your e-mail address on my bulletin board.

Josh Beckett's Intentions Weren't Malicious, But Suspension Still Justified

As a Red Sox fan, I’ll inevitably be accused of homerism when I say that Josh Beckett did not intend to throw at Bobby Abreu’s head in Boston’s 5-4 loss Sunday.
In the first inning of that game, Beckett held his stance for an unusually long time before the 1-2 pitch, and as he finally went to the windup, Abreu called time in the middle of it.
Instead of stopping himself, which could have caused a serious injury, Beckett followed through with the pitch, w

Bobby Abreu: The No. 1 Fantasy Sleeper Pick

<!--StartFragment-->

Now it’s only my first year doing fantasy baseball, but three weeks in, and I’m already hooked. In fact, I see a lot of parallels between fantasy baseball, and ABC’s Lost.

Both are excruciatingly frustrating (I can’t seem to be able to trade Jermaine Dye no matter how hard I try!!), while still incredibly addicting and exciting.
