Breaking News: Milton Bradley Leaves Park During Cubs-Sox Game

Please Milton, make it easier for Cubs fans and sportswriters to turn against you.

According to the Chicago Tribune's Paul Sullivan, after flying out in the sixth inning on Friday against the White Sox, Bradley threw his helmet in the Cubs dugout and then went after the Gatorade cooler.  Manager Lou Piniella then went to talk to Bradley in the tunnel, where the two exchanged angry words.

Boston Red Sox Pitcher Justin Masterson Speaks at Pentagon

The closest thing on this site to breaking news, this is a story that I wrote for my paper about Justin Masterson, pitcher for the Boston Red Sox.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Justin Masterson, in Washington D.C. for a three-game series against the Nationals, was the featured speaker at the Pentagon's weekly prayer breakfast. Masterson spoke about how his faith affects him as a professional athlete and the impact God has had on his life.

Manny Goes Hitless to Start Rehab

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP): Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Manny Ramirez was welcomed back to baseball with rousing cheers.

In the minor leagues, anyway.

Hot Commodity: Los Angeles Dodgers Interested in Jarrod Washburn

Looks like the apparent blunder of nixing a Washburn deal with the Minnesota Twins last year was not much of a mistake.

St. Louis Cardinals: Mark DeRosa Available

ESPN.com's Buster Olney is reporting that the Indians are ready to trade Mark DeRosa after the Cubs swept them this past weekend.

The Indians, like other struggling teams, are looking to build for the future; in other words: build a younger team.

The Cardinals could very well fulfill those needs in Cleveland. St. Louis has multiple young players on their current active roster.  They also have some talented players devoloping at the AAA level (keep an eye on outfielder Mark Shorey).

Minnesota Twins Reportedly Call-Up Bobby Keppel

UPDATE (2:45 PM): It was in fact Luis Ayala who was DFA'd. We'll see if he accepts an assignment, but that's doubtful.

According to Jim Mandelaro of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, the Twins have called-up Bobby Keppel after Saturday's bullpen blowup over the weekend.

CC Sabathia Leaves Yankees Game with Injury

New York Yankees’ ace CC Sabathia left today’s game against the Florida Marlins with one out in the second inning because of an apparent injury. I say “apparent” because even watching the game, I am not sure exactly what was wrong with the big lefty.

After his last warm up pitch, Joe Girardi came to the mound with the Yankees’ trainer to check on CC. The YES Network showed a replay of that pitch, and nothing looked unusual.

Los Angeles Dodgers Recall James McDonald From Albuquerque

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled RHP James McDonald from triple-A Albuquerque and sent down RHP Travis Schlichting.

McDonald was named the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week for Jun. 8-15. During that stretch he went 1-0 and allowed just one run in 14 innings pitched.

He also struck out 23 hitters over those two starts for the Isotopes.

For the season in triple-A, McDonald is 1-0 with a 3.26 ERA in six starts.

Phils Become Overly Hospitable Hosts
The Phillies are in a pretty good spot in the NL East standings right now with a three-game lead over the Mets, but there's a significant chink in the defending champs' armor:  for some reason, they can't win at home.
