Chicago White Sox: 5 Moves That Should Have Been Made This Offseason

The White Sox have had a busy offseason, piecing together a bullpen and nabbing a lefty bat in Adam Dunn. They have, as most would agree, gotten stronger since last season.

With the new mantra of “All In” leading the Sox into the new season, it raises the question of what could have or should have been done this offseason. Here are five moves the White Sox missed that would have helped them going into this season.

2011 Fantasy: Chris Sale Will Reclaim Chisox Closer Role from Matt Thornton

Matt Thornton was just named the closer by Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. Sometime in late April or early May Chris Sale will begin to get save opportunities, pitch well and never look back, as he will put a strangle hold on the closer's job for the Chicago White Sox for the remainder of the season. In keeper leagues you must continue to consider the possibility of the young hurler being placed back into the starting rotation next year.

MLB Update: Jake Peavy Slows Spring Training Due to Possible Tendinitis

After his latest start, Jake Peavy reported feeling a distinct discomfort in his pitching shoulder. With further review, it was eluded that Peavy may be diagnosed with tendinitis. His current pitching schedule has been slowed down, and his hopes to make Opening Day are slowly fading away.

The question stands to be asked, if Peavy is not ready to go come April 1st, what do the White Sox do?

Matt Thornton Announced as White Sox Closer: Will He Last the Entire Season?

The nominees for the Chicago White Sox closer job were front runners Matt Thornton and Chris Sale with Jesse Crain and Sergio Santos being the outside contenders.

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen announced after Saturday's game against Oakland that Thornton would be the Opening Day closer.

A.L. Central: Why the White Sox Are the Most Exciting Team to Watch in 2011

Baseball season is coming up and the American League Central is promising to be one of the most competitive divisions this season. I have come up with six different reasons why the White Sox will be the most exciting team to watch within this division.

The White Sox are always full of excitement, exemplified last year by the feud between Guillen and Williams, by the 30-game stretch in which the White Sox went 25-5, and by the addition of Manny Ramirez—one of the biggest characters in all of baseball.

MLB: Top 10 Moments from U.S. Cellular Field in the Past Decade

Over the past, decade many moments have been shared by White Sox fans on the South Side.

A World Series has been won, playoffs have been made, and records have been broken.

Baseball legends have graced the turf of U.S. Cellular Field.

Defensive giants Omar Vizquel and Andruw Jones, home run sluggers Manny Ramirez and Frank Thomas, and all-time greats Jim Thome and Ken Griffey Jr. have all donned the White Sox jersey.

The question with all of this is, "What are the top ten events from U.S. Cellular Field to occur in the past decade?"

Chicago White Sox: 5 Things the Sox Need to Get from Spring Training

Coming off an up-and-down 2010 campaign, the Chicago White Sox are reloaded, "all in" and taking aim at the American League Central title and beyond.

The signing of Adam Dunn put a powerful left-handed bat in the lineup that the Sox so desperately missed last year, and the re-signings of Paul Konerko and A.J. Pierzynski told fans that this team means business.

Still, there are several questions looming over the fields at Camelback Ranch in Glendale. Here's a look at what the White Sox need to accomplish before April.

Chicago White Sox's Alexei Ramirez Must Shake Off April Showers To Take Off

It was an eye-opening 2010 campaign for Alexei Ramirez.

Ramirez's .282 average, 18 home runs, 29 doubles and 70 RBI earned him his first Silver Slugger Award, and let's not get started on the fact he should have won a Gold Glove at shortstop.

2011 MLB Spring Training: The Chicago White Sox's Dilemma at Third Base

One of the largest position battles out of the White Sox spring training camp is the starting third base job. Mark Teahen manned the hot corner for a majority of the season last year for the South Siders. He is no slouch defensively and has shown he can handle a bat. Through five seasons in Kansas City, he hit an overall .270 and 12 home runs a season.

MLB: Five Questions the Chicago White Sox Must Face

Going into the 2011 season, the White Sox have been recognized as strong contenders for the postseason. Most analysts see them in contention for the AL Central title. While they will face tough opponents in the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins, the biggest questions to success remain within the organization.
