Five Things That Will Turn Nolan Ryan into a Texas Rangers Prophet

The Rangers have the right guy at the right time to lead this team into bigger and better things.

With Nolan Ryan finally getting to be the captain of the Rangers' ship, after a mutiny of former owner Tom Hicks, they can step into a future that is bright and full of contending years. Something this city hasn't seen in quite some time.

They have youth, along with veteran experience, just about everywhere you look.

They have pitching, they have hitting, but the one thing the Rangers have is the ability to hold on to a lead when they have one.

Khalil Greene: You've Got To Feel for the Troubled Infielder

It was reported today that the Texas Rangers voided IF Khalil Greene’s contract, essentially ending any chance Greene has of playing baseball again this season.

Greene wasn't released because of nagging injuries, age, or terribly declining performance; but because his head's just not in the right place.

CJ Wilson Needs To Pump the Breaks

There are few things I find more comical than when an athlete who has accomplished absolutely nothing in his profession tells everyone how great he is. We see this time and time again in sports.

The latest example of this would be C.J. Wilson of the Texas Rangers.

Wilson has been in the major leagues now for five seasons and yes, he has had a couple of good years, but the reality is he has been nothing more than set-up man/reliever in his career.

Texas Rangers' Julio Borbon Is a Steal in 2010

Lock this guy up. Just do it. He's on the brink of "Pierredom." Make that "Crawfordom." And you can get him cheap! Julio Borbon  is set to bat leadoff for the Texas Rangers, and he will be a big reason why the Rangers will take the AL West in 2010.

2010 Fantasy Baseball Advice: Outfielders Rankings, 11-20

We took a glance at the 10 best outfielders to choose from, and the next 10 are an interesting bunch in that they offer a nice compliment in all categories (power, hits, speed).

While the following players won’t offer as much muscle, the trick is not to overload your team with massive power—despite some saying you should—rather adding a balance of homeruns, hits and speed; something that these guys do in fact offer.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia Pulled from Winter Ball Game with Injury

Update

I just wanted to update a story I covered about a month ago.

Saltalamacchia met with Dr. Greg Pearl on Friday morning and has been cleared to begin baseball activities yet again. As a matter of fact, Saltalamacchia felt so good yesterday, he joined fellow Rangers Ian Kinsler, Michael Young, and Craig Gentry for some batting practice with hitting coach Clint Hurdle.

How Darren Oliver Could Impact the Texas Rangers

Talk about coming full circle: 17 years after Darren Oliver began his career with the Texas Rangers, it looks as though Oliver will be returning to the Rangers.

The Texas Rangers are nearing completion of a one-year deal to add LHP Darren Oliver to the bullpen, two sources said Sunday night.

Oliver, 39, has been used as a reliever for the last four years and has found significant success in that role.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia Pulled from Winter Ball Game with Injury

According to T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com, Texas Rangers catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia was pulled from his winter ball game in the Dominican Republic Wednesday because he was experiencing tingling and numbness in his right arm.

Saltalamacchia will be examined by the Texas Rangers’ medical staff on Friday.

Young Listed Day-To-Day, Should Be 100% For Opening Day

Not only did Michael Young have to spend his Spring Training learning an entirely new position, but now he is dealing with a left quadriceps injury that continues to nag him.

This past weekend he missed back-to-back games after feeling some tightness in his left quad.  On Tuesday he returned to the lineup, but was only able to last one inning.

After singling in the top part of the first inning and then playing the field in the bottom part, he was pulled from the game.
