What David Ortiz and All of Us Need to Remember as His Slump Continues

We all have our theories on why bad things happen to good people.

I'm no different. I've had my good stretches and more-challenging periods. Last summer fell into the latter and will go down in the Book of Todd as one of the more challenging times of my life.

I just felt out of whack. Not quite as sharp as I'd been the day before and it seemed that my internal karma was out of sync. Where one day I would bend down and find a dollar on the ground, the next I'd bend down and rip my drawers.

5 Players You Do Not Want On Your Fantasy Team

Well today I am going to look at five individual players that you should consider dropping or trading as of now. There are obviously more than five struggling players, but these are five individual choices of mine. There will be a slideshow like this every other week which will run down the five worst players of the week, but here are five players you do not want on your fantasy team as of today.

There will also be a Top 5 regarding the Best Players coming out on Monday.

When is enough for David Ortiz?

This is a situation that I was not too eager to broach, but now that it's the halfway mark into May and the home-run total by David Ortiz matches my career total, it's time.

When do the Red Sox make a change with David Ortiz?

Big Papi = Big Problem: The Sudden Decline of the AL's Feared Hitter

Yesterday's line for David Ortiz: 0-for-7 3 K's and 11 men left on base.  Two balls were hit  out of the infield.  What a sad, yet telling day for the Red Sox power hitter. Off to another terrible start, David Ortiz single-handedly lost the game for the Sox yesterday afternoon in Anaheim.

Ortiz left the bases loaded twice, once grounding slowly out to first and the second time tapping back to the mound.

Big Papi, Sports Illustrated, and the "S" Word

The "s" word, meaning slump, not steroids, is something that almost every ballplayer at every level has experienced in some form, but this one feels different.

He can't catch up to routine fastballs.

Real Men Wear Pink: Boston's Stars Among Many Swinging Away at Cancer

As we all know, yesterday we all celebrated Mother's Day. Since all 30 teams had scheduled games, making a day to spend with their mothers impossible, Major League Baseball had something different in mind.

The MLB has been issuing pink bats on Mother's Day for some time now, but I feel that it has never meant more than this year. It is not only a great thing to do for Major League ballplayers, but it has become a fashion statement.

Red Sox Make Teacher Proud During Season's Start

My daughter, Kaitlyn, came home with her mid-term progress report the other day. Not sure why the teachers pick on her so.

Last time I checked 66, was not a C as she has been telling us since September. And she did do well in Music, Art and Gym. I'm sure that will get her into an Ivy League school.

In any event, her poor with an occasional gust to fair grades, has whet my appetite to grade the Red Sox at the end of the first month of the season.

Carter's MLB Power Rankings (April 26)

Here, I give you my MLB power rankings through week 3 of the 2009 season.

1. Boston Red Sox (11-6)

I honestly think the Red Sox forgot how to lose a baseball game. A nine-game winning streak will get you an automatic top five spot no matter what in my opinion. Their offense is coming together. Strong rotation, good bullpen. Life is good in Boston.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers (13-5)

Red Sox Might Have To Make Hard Decision About Fenway Park

I'm dreading the feedback from this article.

So before you get so angry that you'll feel compelled to call me an idiot, let me have my say.

Then, id you still think I'm an idiot, you are more than welcome to send your scornful comments my way,

Are we good? Alright, here comes the bombshell.

I believe Fenway Park is on borrowed time.

From a personal standpoint, I love Fenway. It is the most prestigious and beloved ballpark in all of baseball.

Do the Red Sox Need More Power?

At the beginning of the Red Sox season David Ortiz expressed that he wanted another power bat in the line up. Here in Boston there were mixed emotions about Ortiz's comment.

With Manny Ramirez being in LA, Ortiz was concerned he didn't have a bat behind him to protect him.

There was one person on the Red Sox that took that comment in offense. That person is "The Greek God of Walks" himself, Kevin Youkilis.
