Ricky Nolasco: Quick 2010 Fantasy Baseball Projection

Jimmy Hascup already gave his thoughts on Ricky Nolasco (click here to read the full article), so let’s take a quick look at my projections for him in 2010:

205.0 IP, 15 W, 3.91 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 195 K (8.56 K/9), 54 BB (2.37 BB/9)

Thoughts:

What To Expect from the Marlins

As time went by this offseason, many of my predictions and hopes for the Florida Marlins did not happen.

The first being Josh Johnson's contract negotiations reaching an impasse and not getting any starting pitching help.

In past posts, I had mentioned what I had expected from the Marlins' front office, some of these posts talk about Nick Johnson, Dan Uggla, and other players who are on the trade block or their contracts are up.

So, during the span of time since those posts, a lot has changed.

Will Alfredo Amezaga Land a Multi-Year Contract?

On Monday, I profiled some non tenders that could command multi year contracts. Well, we might have a surprising name to add to the list: Alfredo Amezaga.

Each draft there are players fantasy leaguers go crazy for because of a breakout season the year prior.

Often times the reasoning is unfounded because the player has never been nearly that good in his career. Most of the time he totally comes out of nowhere to become a fantasy force, only to come crashing down to reality in the next season.

Team 81: The 2004 Detroit Tigers

  • Year: 2004
  • Record: 72-90
  • Win %: .444
  • Win % Change: 179
  • Run Differential: -17
  • Pythagorean Record: 79-83
  • AL Finish: 10th of 14
  • Manager: Alan Trammell
  • Best Transaction: Traded Ramon Santiago and a minor leaguer to Seattle for Carlos Guillen.  Forget that Guillen’s current contract is a total albatross and think back a few years ago to when Carlos was a major piece of the Tigers offense.  Guillen was a league-average shortstop at best during his time in Seattle, which is why the Tigers had to give up very little to ob

New York Mets To Possibly Play In Puerto Rico

Well, if the New York Mets couldn’t win in Citi Field, the three American League ballparks, and the other 15 National League ballparks in 2010, why not try somewhere new in 2011?

Josh Johnson, Florida Marlins On Different Pages

It's really hard to argue with the way the Florida Marlins do business.

Despite having a payroll consistently at the bottom of baseball, in the last seven seasons, The Marlins have had five winning seasons and won a World Series.

They have a philosophy of building through the draft, develop their own talent, and once that talent gets to a point where they will make serious money, they trade them for more inexpensive talent.

Josh Johnson and Florida Marlins Fail To Ink Long-Term Deal

Once a cheap team, always a cheap team.

The Florida Marlins have reportedly "reached an impasse ” with ace Josh Johnson regarding a proposed four-year contract extension.

MLB 9s: Florida Marlins—Han-Ram, Pudge, Pierre Are Faces of the Franchise

One question, hundreds of answers: Which Marlin had the greatest offensive season at his position?

Major League baseball has been asking fans this same question in an effort to choose each team's best-ever collection of stars.

They are calling it MLB 9s.

How has Hanley Ramirez revolutionized shortstop? How many members of the 1997 and 2003 championship teams make the list? Was Preston Wilson's power more important than Juan Pierre's speed?
