Early in MLB's offseason, the rumor mill will run wild with possibilities. Some will foreshadow future maneuvers, but others will remain in "What if?" purgatory.

A general manager isn't doing his due diligence by hanging up on an inquiry. Even an untouchable superstar has his price if the other side is willing to overpay. Many speculated studs on the hot stove will stay put, but it's usually worth a conversation.

John Lackey filled in fluidly for the St. Louis Cardinals when ace Adam Wainwright suffered an Achilles injury in early April.

Lackey is now a free agent after declining a $15.8 qualifying offer, and already teams are in pursuit of the 13-year veteran.

O'Day Won't Be Cheap for Prospective Buyers

According to Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com, O'Day is seeking a contract for four years that will pay him between $28 million and $36 million overall. 

Hyun-soo Kim is a left fielder from Korea who can sign with any Major League Baseball team without going through the bid-based posting system because of his designation as an international free agent. He is bound to generate plenty of interest from a number of squads looking for outfield help.
