MLB Rumors: Ryne Sandberg Steps Up As a Candidate for Blue Jays Manager Job

According to Fox Sports' Jon Paul Morosi, the Toronto Blue Jays have added a new name to the list of managers that could be hired to replace their current skipper, Cito Gaston.

Some of the candidates, like Brian Butterfield and Rob Thomson, are stationed in the American League East right now and could remain in the same division if they take the job offer.

MLB Rumors: Yu Darvish and the Six Teams Vying For His Services This Winter

Yahoo Sports and ESPN are reporting that there are six teams that are taking looks at Japanese star Yu Darvish. It is not a 100% decision by Darvish to make the move to the United States, but the teams are already lining up.

The system used to sign him would be very much like the Daisuke Matsuzaka system where there is a bidding war.  It takes up quite a bit of money as learned by the Red Sox, but it could all payoff.

Jose Bautista's Accuser Deserves the Penalty Box

I won't link you to the article which is the basis for this article, but I will give you a brief summary:

MLB Rumors: Tim Wallach Arises as Potential Joe Torre Successor in LA

Recently, Major League Baseball has been buzzing about the future of several managers. From Tony LaRussa to Joe Girardi, these men are starting to make more headlines than this year's looming free agent class.

There could now even be a "Joe Torre Watch" as he is one of the most prized managers in the game and could be relocating this offseason. He has a few destinations to choose from.

MLB Waiver Trade Deadline: Possible Players to Be Traded

Now that the 2010 MLB trading deadline has passed, we now have to look forward to the potential waiver deals. The waiver deadline is exactly like the trading deadline except that players have to clear waivers first before they can be traded.

Here's what waivers means according to Wikipedia:

MLB Waiver Wire: 10 Players That Could Be Moved Before the End of August

Although the non-waiver trade deadline has passed, don't think for a second that teams aren't still looking at ways to make themselves better before the month of August comes to a close.

What's next for a lot of general managers is the waiver wire.

Cincinnati Reds: Five Reasons Gary Matthews, Jr. Is a Bad Idea

According to many reports, the Cincinnati Reds are on the verge of signing Gary Matthews, Jr. Matthews had a big year for the Texas Rangers way back in 2006. That year he put up .313/.371/.495/.866. The LA Angels then swooped in and signed Matthews for a huge deal.

Matthews' big year in 2006 skewed his career numbers, but the Angles ignored that and tried catching four years of lightning in a bottle. It didn't work out.

After three disappointing years, the Angels ended up getting the Mets to take him as insurance for Carlos Beltran.

Soup's Back on in St. Louis: Cardinals Closing in on Jeff Suppan

With starters Kyle Lohse and Brad Penny on the disabled list and poor showings from rookies P.J. Walters and Blake Hawksworth, the St. Louis Cardinals may be close to bringing a familiar face back to Busch Stadium: Jeff Suppan.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that parameters of a deal were in place that could have the veteran right-hander, who was released by the Brewers on Monday, join the team this weekend in Arizona.

Jon Mozeliak, the Cardinals General Manager, warned that any deal was unofficial as of yet.

Quick Pitches: Feliz Cumpleanos Neftali Feliz! Here's the Rangers Closer Role

What I’m Reading

• The Rangers are sticking with Neftali Feliz, Frank Francisco, and their two-closer system for the time being. Good. Because these situations alway pan out favorably.
