The baseball gods can be cruel, but they’ve got nothing on Father Time.

That crotchety old you-know-what rarely allows for ballplayers to age like fine wines, and he’s particularly unfair to pitchers. One day a pitcher will be fine and the next—BAM!—he’ll be over the hill. No more velocity, no more stuff, no more guile, no more nothing.

In light of how things were going for a while there, it didn't occur to me to imagine a scenario in which there would be a huge fuss over Ricky Nolasco.

But lo and behold, such a fuss is happening now.

MLB players involved in the Biogenesis scandal may not be suspended in 2013, according to an ESPN Dallas report.

Having reached the halfway point of the 2013 minor league season, it’s not surprising that many of the game’s top young hitters have recently received a promotion to a more advanced level.

The Arizona Diamondbacks traveled to Washington, D.C., on June 25 to open a three-game series against the Nationals.

The Washington Nationals were desperately in need of some wins before the All-Star break. The Nationals were a team many picked to win the World Series this year, but they came into this series with a losing record.

The great grit experiment has been successful so far in Arizona, as the Diamondbacks are currently sitting atop the NL West. Led by Paul Goldschmidt, the D-Backs looked to pad their division lead at the expense of the Nationals.
