MLB Denies Yankees Protest

Yesterday, Major League Baseball denied the Yankees protest regarding their game against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. Here's a quote from Brian Cashman that pretty much sums up my opinion on the subject:

Bobby Valentine: Answer for the New York Mets

When looking at the Mets this year, fans can see there is one thing they truly lack: charisma.

Jerry Manuel is known for his laid back attitude and approach to the game. So far this has been terribly unsuccessful. He has a 147-152 record since taking over as Mets manager midway through the 2008 season. Mediocrity is not acceptable in New York.

The Mets need a charismatic manager who brings fire and passion to the game. The team needs to be energized. The perfect manager for the job is Bobby Valentine.

John Maine Situation Leaves New York Mets Rotation a Mess

The mystery injury to John Maine last night leaves the Mets starting rotation in a bigger mess than we thought it was already. And it couldn’t come at a worse time for Jerry Manuel.

Many of us already have a death watch on his managerial career. Of course, injuries aren’t his fault but he needs some good things to happen soon.

Should the Philadelphia Phillies Move Jimmy Rollins Down in the Order?

It was one of those humbling moments that reminds you why the fans pay to go to the game and sit in the 400-level while the coaches get paid to go to the game and sit in the dugout.

In the Phillies' half of the sixth inning of a 1-1 game against the Cubs on Tuesday afternoon, Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins came to the plate with two outs and runners on second and third.

Philadelphia Phillies Must Be Careful, Not Panicky, With Roy Halladay

There is a lot being made about Roy Halladay's high pitch count over his past few starts. Over the last four starts he's made he hasn't thrown any fewer than 118 pitches and is averaging 123 with his latest 132-pitch outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates this past Tuesday.

However, is that really so bad for a guy who has an MLB-high 53 complete games over the past eight seasons?

Fantasy Baseball Around the Majors, May 20: Kershaw, Zobrist, and More

Ben Zobrist finally went deep.  The same could be said about Troy Tulowitzki, who hit just his second home run of the season.  Clayton Kershaw, Jon Lester, and Ubaldo Jimenez dominated.  Let’s look at these stories and all the rest from yesterday’s games.

New York Yankees Fighting Through Rough Patch

Beginning misguided rant in three...two...one...

The New York Yankees and My9 are a match made in hell.

I wish I had the statistics to back this up—and let's face it, a rudimentary once-over of the schedule would probably settle this—but to me, the Yankees always seem to play poorly when their games are broadcast on the redheaded stepchild of free television.

New York Mets, Yankees Square Off to Begin Subway Series at Citi Field

Ahh, it's that time of year again. It must mean we're a quarter of the way through the season, and that it's almost Memorial Day, as rivalry weekend is upon us.

Although I personally am not a fan of it, it's still the Subway Series, where Mets and Yankees fans come together for three days. They watch a ballgame from the same ballpark and they have a chance to finally root against one another.

Which 10 Major Leaguers Under 30 Are Hall of Fame Bound?

One of the more interesting aspects of examining who's in, and who's not in regards to Baseball's Hall of Fame is looking at how players chances were perceived during their careers.

In the late 1980s, who thought Don Mattingly would be on the outside looking in? Dwight Gooden? Five years ago, Andruw Jones looked like a good bet to hit 500-600 home runs, and along with his Gold Glove defense, ride into the Hall five years after his retirement. The point is, stuff happens.

So, as we stand today, what ten players under the age of 30 are most likely to end up in the Hall of Fame?
