Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight 5/18: The Demise of Trevor Hoffman

Today’s edition of Fantasy Baseball Insiders Tonight features not one, but two games scored by the Insider himself…

Game No. 26 – Minnesota Twins vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Redemption Is Sweet! Red Sox Come Back For Much-Needed Win Against Yankees

Papelbon redeemed himself against the Yankees, allowing the Red Sox to secure a split in the series.

New York Mets Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey Opens Set vs Washington Nationals

After splitting two games in Atlanta, the Mets head to the Nation's Capital to play two with the reeling Nationals. After surprising everyone by getting off to a 20-15 start, the Nationals have lost five in a row to drop to an even 20-20 on the season.

The Mets, on the other hand, couldn't get to 20-20 as they lost last night behind ace Johan Santana. Now they will try and win a couple in D.C. with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey on the mound, taking the spot of the demoted Oliver Perez.

The 10 Best Left-Handed Pitchers of All Time

Who's the greatest left handed pitcher of all time? Ask that question, and you'll get a variety of answers.

Warren Spahn has the most wins, Randy Johnson the most strikeouts, and Lefty Grove the most ERA titles. And, oh yeah, Sandy Koufax was pretty good too.

In my opinion, there's a clear cut answer. All the pitchers on this list were very good. All are, or should be in the Hall of Fame. But one guy stands alone as the greatest lefty, and possibly the greatest pitcher, who ever lived.

Analyzing the New York Yankees' Designated Hitter Carousel

With the news coming in from all over that Nick Johnson will need wrist surgery and will be out until at least July, the Yankees have found themselves without an everyday designated hitter.

Johnson, who was batting an abysmal .167 to begin with, now needs a replacement in the lineup.

Since his departure, the Yankees have been shuffling a bunch of players around and giving their opponents different looks on almost a gamely basis.

The Yankees may not need to go out and get a DH, if they are able to win with the current mix of players they have right now.

Glass Half Full: Ranking the Chicago White Sox's Few Bright Spots of 2010

The Sox have been hard to watch this season. Most expected them to be roughly .500, but the pitching hasn't been nearly as strong as expected and only two players are hitting over .260. The Sox are seven and a half games back after their win today and could be selling at the trade deadline if things don't improve relatively quickly.

However, that's not what this article is about. Not everyone on the Sox is struggling, and rather than dwell on the negative I'm going to highlight these players.

Somehow I found 6 slides for this article.

Lifeless Colorado Rockies Lose Again to Chicago Cubs

Disgusting, sick, gross, nasty, ugly. Their are plenty of words to describe the latest Rockies debacle, but none of them are positive.

Top Ten Philadelphia Phillies Pitchers of All Time

When Roy Halladay joined the Philadelphia Phillies, I made a comment on local sports-talk radio that Halladay immediately joins the Phillies' Mount Rushmore of starting pitchers. Was this hyperbole?

Could a guy in his first season with the Phillies ( a team founded in 1883) possibly be one of the top four starting pitchers in the team's history?

Let's take a look at the All Time Phillies pitching staff.

San Francisco Giants in the Brian Sabean Era: Fred Lewis Says It All

Sooner or later, the revisionist sharks will begin circling one of their favorite pieces of bait, San Francisco Giant general manager Brian Sabean.

My guess is that they've already started and the first bite is only a matter of time.

Hanley Ramirez: Where's Your Sense? Here's Mine

So by now all you of you have heard or read of the terrible case of the Monday's Hanley Ramirez came down with during yesterday's game versus the Diamondbacks.

If not, read Dan's last post over at themarlinsblog.com . And appalled as I am that someone like Hanley would be perfectly fine with his public display of immaturity, I must say that I am not surprised.
