This is going to be an offseason Major League Baseball fans look back on with a smile. With the exception of a few teams, virtually every franchise seems to believe that contention in 2015 is possible. It's why trades and signings have been happening more rapidly than we are used to. 

The Philadelphia Phillies have been unsuccessful at finding anyone to take Ryan Howard off their hands, but general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. doesn't sound like he's going to keep the 35-year-old first baseman around much longer. 

Speaking on 97.5 The Fanatic on Friday, via Dan Toman of TheScore.com, Amaro was very frank about where Howard stands with the Phillies:

In case you haven't noticed, Major League Baseball's offseason has been going crazy with activity. While most of the big-name free agents have already signed, there also have been dozens of trades involving scores of players.

With nearly two months of the Major League Baseball offseason gone by, some teams have already put their best-laid plans into action and gotten us all riled up talking about how clever they are.

But we're not here to talk about them. We're here to discuss the teams that haven't put their best-laid plans into action, forcing us to talk about how screwed they might be.

Padres manager Bud Black met with Kemp on Friday and told him that this entire reconstruction project started with him. Kemp said he welcomes the responsibility of leading and is eager to help his new teammates get better.

Few teams have been as active this offseason as the Miami Marlins. The latest reported move up their sleeve involves third baseman Casey McGehee. The team announced the deal on Friday night, according to Chris Haft of MLB.com.

The New York Yankees’ quietly good offseason continued Friday, as the team acquired right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, first baseman Garrett Jones and right-handed pitching prospect Domingo German from the Miami Marlins, according to Marc Carig of Newsday.

The Miami Marlins' offseason overhaul continued on Friday, as the team reportedly struck a deal with the New York Yankees for super-utility man Martin Prado and right-handed pitcher David Phelps.
