Slugger Chris Davis can't help the Baltimore Orioles on the field right now, but he is doing things that are more important than hitting home runs.

Last week, Davis was suspended 25 games after testing positive for amphetamines. That means that his 2014 regular season is over, and the Orioles will have to advance past the American League Division Series for him to have a chance to play again this season.

The Chicago Cubs entered the 2014 season with a very strong farm system and somehow ended the year with an even stronger one. Several key prospects have found their way to the major leagues this season, but a lot of top-level talent still remains in the farm system.

The National League races are almost set with the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants still fighting for the West.

New York Yankees star Martin Prado is expected to miss the rest of the regular season after an emergency appendectomy.

MLB award talk is heating up here with just a few weeks remaining in the 2014 regular season, and this year's crop of MVP candidates in both leagues should bring about some good debate.

In the American League, the storyline is Mike Trout once again, as he looks to finally take home some hardware after finishing second to Miguel Cabrera the past two years.

To borrow a line from one of the great (or awful, it's open for debate) songs of the '80s, the appropriately titled "Talk Talk" by...Talk Talk: "All you do to me is talk talk."

In this case, "me" is actually we, as in us, fans of major league baseball, while the you in the lyrics are the players and agents that pump out reason after reason as to why they chose to sign with Team X as a free agent.
