New York Mets

New York Mets

Is the WBC Good for the Mets?

The writer's block is gone (I hope). Thanks to all the great people that helped me get over it

The Mets have 16 players in the WBC.

Lots of people say they don't care about the WBC. The average American baseball fan is worried that his team star will get injured in the tournament, or that because of the WBC the players will be washed-up come August.

Has Pedro Martinez Pitched His Last Game As a Met?

As of now, future Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez is a free agent. He most recently played for the New York Mets and had good years, but they were not the great seasons that the Mets expected from him.

Despite him not living up to what the Mets thought he would do, the fans loved Pedro and overwhelmed with cheers every game.

Duaner Sanchez: Coulda Been a Contender

Oh Duaner, Duaner, Duaner. He's not quite the Greg Jeffries of the Mets' bullpen, but he's fallen just as far off the Mets radar as Jeffries did back in the early '90s.

A guy who was once considered a possible replacement for Billy Wagner is now no longer employed. The Mets today announced that they released Duaner Sanchez and broke the news to him this morning so he could enjoy his afternoon in Port St. Lucie taking in the sights.

A-Rod Disappoints Again

I now realize how spoiled we've been.

A-Rod helped sportsblogs coast through February.

Yesterday, A-Rod let me down.

With a pseudo-Mets team missing 16 players, there's not much to say. Sure, I could make some crap up along the lines of:

"'Kielty Should Platoon"
Or the ever-popular "Santana Elbow OK!" posts that you see everywhere.

Maybe some random Mike Pelfrey speculation would float your boat?

Nope, I'm hoping the real Mets come back soon, and that brings me back to A-Rod.

30 Clubs in 30 Days: New York Mets

We move from the Bronx to the other side of New York, where the New York Mets look to get back into the playoffs after choking down the stretch the past two seasons.

The New York Mets finished out of the playoffs again last year, losing the wild card in the end to the Brewers and finishing with an 89-73 record, good for second place in the NL East.

The offense wasn’t the issue, as the Mets put up an average of 4.9 runs. They batted .266 as a team, and showed their speed throughout the order, stealing an NL 2nd 138 bases and hitting 38 triples.

No Way, Jose! (If A-Rod Said This..)

PLAYER NAME said he is willing to "play anywhere on the field" for the Dominican.

PLAYER said he didn't think BASEBALL TEAM FROM NEW YORK would mind if he played a foreign position for a dopey nobody-cares international tournament.

"I told (Felipe Alou) if he puts me in another position, I'm going to play it, because I'm here to represent my country..." the DR.

Guess who?

Nope, not A-Rod because if A-Rod said it we'd be lynching him for being stupid enough to play out of position for this WBC silliness.
