Believe In Pujols' Slugfests, Homers

In a town, where the arch resides, one of the world’s greatest artifacts that overlooks the city and where the Mississippi River streams along St. Louis. In the town, there’s also baseball’s unquestionable hitter who hails before the enthusiastic Red Birds fans, where average fans contains of Pujols’ Craziness.

How ESPN and the MLB Ruined the Original Home Run Derby

After all of the hype, the 2009 Home Run Derby is over with Prince Fielder of the Milwaukee Brewers being crowned champion over the Texas Rangers' Nelson Cruz Monday night at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

Should the New York Mets Emulate the San Francisco Giants?

He made it into the seventh inning last Thursday night with the no-hitter intact, and when he finally came off the mound in the same inning, the line score wasn’t nearly as strong as his performance indicated. Nonetheless, Tim Lincecum would garner his 10th win of the 2009 season.

Chicago Cubs & White Sox Midseason Report

The 2009 baseball season is at the annual All-Star break and both the Cubs and White Sox find themselves 3.5 games back in their divisions.

As usual, it has been an odd season on both sides of Chicago as both teams have struggled.

Yet both remain in contention.

The Cubs were supposed to dominate their division and be better than the team that won 97 games last season, but that has not happened. The offense has struggled mightily this season, as it ranks dead last in MLB with a .218 batting average with RISP.

Major League Baseball's Midseason Awards

The Midsummer Classic is upon us, and that can only mean one thing. Awards! Some are obvious, and some will probably make you shake your head. But, before you jump to any conclusions regarding my decisions, keep in mind that my friends call me "the Real Miss Cleo" when it comes to predictions. Yeah, I'm legit. So, here they are, the 2009 MLB Midseason Awards.

MLB Midseason Awards

The 2009 MLB season has reached its annual All Star Break and it is time for me to take a turn at naming the MVP, ROY, Cy Young, and Manager of the Year Awards.

As always it has been an interesting year.

You have Albert Pujols in the hunt for a Triple Crown, Joe Mauer's quest for .400, the very mediocre Jonathan O. Sanchez throwing a no-no, Manny being Manny, the NL's inferiority, and the Dodgers and Red Sox lining each other up for a potential World Series match up.

Message To Mets: Bring In Manny Acta

Ex-Nats Skipper Could Help Mets Get Back On Track

The Washington Nationals fired their manager, Manny Acta, today, opening the door for the NY Mets to bring their former third-base coach back into the fold.

Why would the Mets - who are struggling mightily to stay afloat - want to bring in a manager who had won only 26 games in the first half this season?

Could Chapter 11 Help the Chicago Cubs Turn the Page?

Reports on Monday indicated that the Tribune Company is considering an option where the Chicago Cubs would declare bankruptcy.

This news likely confuses many onlookers, who have been taken on a strange journey by the off-the-field news surrounding the Cubs in the last few months.

First the team was sold, then it wasn't, then it was sold to two different groups...and now bankruptcy?

Really?

The Chicago Cubs Pep Talk

The All-Star break is before us, which means the first half of the season has come to a close, and while most will sit back and analyze their team’s progress—or lack thereof—I can’t help but wonder what that will get me aside from headaches and the occasional fit more true to a diabetic or schizophrenic.

No offense to either, but you get the point.

MLB ASG: Is Home-Field Advantage In The WS Such a Bad Idea?

After witnessing one of the oddest sights in all of sports in 2002—a baseball game ending in a tie—MLB Commissioner Bud Selig elected to make a change to the "Mid-Summer Classic."

From 2003 onward, the winning league in the MLB All-Star Game would get home-field advantage for their World Series representative come October.

However, the decision to award home-field advantage to the victor of the ASG has been met mostly with criticism.
