Bringing the Heat: The Top 5 Early Pitching Surprises of 2009

This is a list of who I think are the Top Five early pitching suprises of this years MLB season. The list included some amazing ptchers and some that haven't been cutting this year.
Most of these pitchers have come off not so great seasons and are starting to make a great impact in the MLB. I look for these pitchers to have great seasons and maybe even soem of them to win year end awards.

South Sidings: Assets and Liabilities

Welcome to the first edition of my new weekly section, South Sidings—my own views and opinions on the previous week's White Sox action. I hope you enjoy!

So, we're 14 games into the season and at 8-6, the Chicago White Sox are off to a decent start, with the positives greatly outweighing the negatives.

Let's take a closer look at this on a player by player basis:

The Top 10 Double Play Combos In MLB History

When researching and compiling a list such as this, parameters and requirements must be established.

Since the title itself is “Double Play Combinations” I went completely with defense. Had it been the best second basemen or the best shortstop, I would have taken into account their offensive numbers as well.

It was a daunting task to say the least. The first thing to be done was to find out who the best keystone players were.

There Goes My Hero....Where have you gone former MLB superstar?

In recent years Major League Baseball has seen new faces burst onto the scene and become annual members on the All-Star team. Players like David Wright and Joe Mauer have become fan favorites and household names as they've launched careers among the best in baseball.

Other players have seen their personal stars dimmer over the last few seasons. The 10 players whose careers used to shine among brightest in the baseball sky and have since gone the other way are included in the following slides.

Big Apple Heroes: New York's Most Loved Athletes

Recently, Mike Kent put together a nice article on what he believed to be the top 10 fan-favorites in the state of New York.

I was lucky enough to spend the first three years of my life in New York and, while I cannot remember many athletes (or remember anything in general), I thought I should give this list a shot of my own.

I hope you enjoy the following, and don't forget to check out Mike's either for a second opinion!
