The New York Yankees Legacy is Still Alive Despite Struggles

Two games versus the Boston Red Sox in April does not mean anything.

As far as I am concerned, without Alex Rodriguez and the struggles of our number two starter Chien-Ming Wang, I am satisfied with a 9-8 start heading into Sunday.

Watching the last two games has been tough, because both games the Yankees could have easily won and they let them get away.

The positives I am seeing aren't outweighing the negative, but it is close.

Robinson Cano is hitting .366 and tearing the cover off the ball, adding two home runs and five RBI in yesterdays loss.

My First Trip to the New Yankee Stadium: The Experience of a Lifetime

I was exhausted as I looked out the window on the train ride home. As a die-hard baseball fan, I had just been through an absolute whirlwind. The day of my baseball-loving life.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 was a very special day for me. I was privileged enough to make my first trip with my friends and family to the new Yankee Stadium.

Game No. 12: Indians-Yankees: Wang Must Get It Together

(The Voice of Yankees Universe)

Chien-Ming Wang has been completely dreadful in his first two starts of the season. It isn’t time to panic, but it is a concern.

Starting the season 0-2 with a 28.93 ERA is just unacceptable. I fully expected him to join the team and pitch like he did when he was healthy.

Maybe the lack of game action has effected him. I don’t want to make any excuses for the guy, but I think we all want to know what’s going on.

CC Sabathia, Nick Swisher Lead Yanks Past Royals

By the time the Kansas City Royals got on the scoreboard it was too late to make a comeback. CC Sabathia had given the Yankees seven-and-two-thirds innings of shutout baseball and Jose Veras held the shutout until Tony Pena Jr. grounded in the Royals' first and only run of the night.

Once again, the Yankees jumped on the Royals' pitching. Johnny Damon singled, Nick Swisher walked, and Jorge Posada doubled in two first-inning runs for the second straight game. In the third, the Yanks' catcher doubled in another run after Swisher tripled in captain Derek Jeter.

The Rise, Fall, and Potential Rise of Robinson Cano

Robinson Cano was born in San Pedro de Macoris in the Dominican Republic.

His father Jose Cano was signed by the Yankees in 1980, and played in six games for the Astros in 1989.

Robinson Cano started his major league career in 2005, taking over Second Base from Tony Womack. He was phenomenal batting .297 with 14 home runs, 62 RBI, along with 34 doubles. He also never one to take walks. So that year he finished third in lowest walk percentage with 3 percent.

Robinson Cano showed that he had presence at the plate and smoothness in his swing.

In Final Exhibition, Yankees Top Cubs

In what was the last spring tune up for the New York Yankees, and only the second game played in the new Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Bombers topped the Chicago Cubs this afternoon, 10-1.

Perhaps the biggest highlight of the afternoon was the hitting show put on by the Yanks’ $180 million off-season acquisition Mark Teixeira.

The new first baseman had two home runs in today’s game, smacking a solo homer into the right-center field bleachers in the third inning and a three-run dinger into the upper deck in right field in the fourth.

Yankees Day of Firsts: A Look into Attending the True “Opening Day”

The early morning fog and clouds cleared to reveal nothing but blue sky and sunshine.

The baseball gods would not allow anything to ruin the unveiling of the most remarkable structure its sport has to offer.

Cano and Marte Injury Update

This update comes from the Yankees via Peter Abraham:

Robinson Cano Didn't Tell New York Yankees About Injury

I didn't mention this yesterday when I originally posted the story, but Robinson Cano did not tell the Yankees about his injury before leaving for the WBC. Joe Girardi said, “It was a shock to me.”

Damaso Marte was injured while lifting weights on Tuesday, and Girardi was pretty upset about that.

Robinson Cano Returns Home: Dominican WBC Ride Ends in Heartbreak

After a second straight mind-blowing upset at the hands of The Netherlands, the roster of the Dominican Republic returned home with their tails tucked between their legs.

The Dominican team held the weight on their shoulders of a nation as passionate about the game of baseball as any other in the world.
