Atlanta Braves: Don't Be Afraid To Give Barbaro Canizares a Chance

Today, in the Braves second consecutive win (we need one more for a winning streak), Troy Glaus had three hits in four trips to the plate (his only out was when Hunter Pence made a diving grab) bringing his season average up 25 points to .221.

Atlanta Braves: Martin Prado Keeps Hitting, Derek Lowe Keeps Winning

The Atlanta Braves are 10 games into the season, and they sit at 6-4 after winning their first game against the Rockies.

Here are some thoughts from the first week and a half of the year.

Martin Prado Keeps Hitting

Prado has been a hit machine thus far. At the beginning of the season, you could count me among those skeptical that Prado was as good as he showed us in 2009.

Atlanta Braves: Why Troy Glaus Could Be a Mistake

With three games in the books, the new and improved Atlanta Braves look like they have the chance to be as good as advertised. Impressive performances from the rookie phenom Jason Heyward, Brian McCann, and the bullpen (including closer Billy Wagner) are among popular topics in the Peach State and fans are excited.

However, in my opinion there is one dark spot within the lineup that I feel deserves some attention. That spot is the play of the first baseman, and Atlanta newcomer Troy Glaus.

Troy Glaus to Sign with the Atlanta Braves

By Caesar Cliffius

The Atlanta Braves and third baseman Troy Glaus are close to signing a contract. ESPN reported that the only object in the way of signing Glaus is a physical exam. MLB.com is already showing Glaus in a Braves cap on his profile page.

Troy Glaus Signing with the Atlanta Braves: Risks and Rewards

It looks like the Braves have found their right-handed power hitter.

Despite playing only six games in his career at first base, the Braves signed Troy Glaus to a one-year/$2 million contract yesterday:

Free agent corner infielder Troy Glaus and the Atlanta Braves have reached a tentative agreement on a contract, a baseball source told ESPN.com on Wednesday.

Troy Glaus to Sign With Braves: I Got Ya Right-Handed Power Right Here

Yesterday, a number of Braves fans gathered up their torches and pitch forks and started to load up a wagon bound for the Mexican beach on which Frank Wren is vacationing.

"Why did we trade our ACE for a fourth outfielder?!?!

"We need power!!!  Not a s%*##y Yankee scrub!!!"

Well, today I hope that at least a few have jumped off of that wagon, as the Braves acquired their big right-handed bat that all of us Braves fans have for so long sought.

Sort of.

Troy Glaus Signing: Atlanta Braves Get the Right-Handed Bat They Need

The Atlanta Braves needed a right-handed power bat and a first baseman. In one signing today, they accomplished both.

According to FOXSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal, the Braves have signed Troy Glaus to a one-year contract.

Terms of this deal have not been disclosed yet, but it seems to be a very incentive-laden deal.

I really like this move by the Braves.

The Market for Troy Glaus

As Matt Holliday and Jason Bay dominate the headlines on the free agent front, one name that we have not heard much from is Troy Glaus. Until now, that is:

A week ago we Cardinal fans pretty much thought the sky falling. We could not hit, we could not pitch, and we could not field. We were struggling at every aspect of the game possible.

Cardinals Fever: Sort of Like Swine Flu

If you're a Cardinals fan, then April was awesome.

And if you're a Cardinals fan and thought April was awesome, then May is the exact opposite of April.

The phrase "Cardinals Fever...Catch It" should be something closer to "Cardinals Fever...Penicillin's Your Best Bet."
