Chien-Ming Wang Would Like To Pitch for Dodgers If He Can't Return to Yankees

On Friday November 20, Chien Ming Wang spoke to reporters in Taiwan about his questionable future with the New York Yankees organization. Wang has been plagued by injuries the last two years and is no longer the Yankees ace pitcher.

When speaking to reporters in Taiwan, Wang said that the Yankees are his "first choice". But afterwards mentioned that he would be alright pitching for any other major league team.

Wang has a chance of pitching for any other Major League baseball team, if he becomes a free agent. His contract with the Yankees expires this year and his future is in their hands on whether they decide to renew his contract or not.

Reporters in Taiwan asked the Yankees pitcher what he would think of an opportunity to pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Wang said it wouldn't be a bad idea.

The Taiwanese right-hander had a very close and strong relationship with current Dodgers manager, Joe Torre. Torre was Wang's manager when the pitcher broke into the majors as a rookie pitcher in April 2005. Torre would stay at Wang's side until he would leave the Yankees organization in 2007.

The Dodgers are looking for starting pitchers this off-season as that was one of the reasons that they lost to the Phillies in the National League Championship Series.

If the Yankees were to let Wang walk and the Dodgers were to get Chien-Ming Wang from the free agent market, the starting rotation in Los Angeles could look like this:

1. Chad Billingsly

2. Chien-Ming Wang

3. Hideki Kuroda

4. Clayton Kershaw

5. Vincente Padilla (if the Dodgers re-sign him)

The Dodgers have their work cut out for them this offseason. Dodgers GM Ned Colletti and assistant general manager Kim Ng will definitely be looking to strike gold with a good free agent pick up that could finally help them beat the Phillies in the NLCS. Chien-Ming Wang could be one of those big pick-ups that have a great impact during the season.
