What every young, building franchise needs is a vocal leader.  One who isn't afraid to call a player or two out.  Whether that be in the clubhouse, or through the media.

The future of the Washington Nationals franchise, and right now Major League Baseball's most marketable player, Stephen Strasburg, seems like he is quite comfortable in that role.

I love the game of baseball. In fact, I'd call myself a baseball enthusiast.

That being said, there's a topic that seems to stick in my craw more often than not. While I have my own opinion on players' salaries and how most aren't worth half of what they're getting, that's not one of the biggest issues in the game today.

What is? Controversial managers.

The true test is here. The time to find out if the Cincinnati Reds are playoff material has arrived in the form of a nine-game West Coast pow-wow.
 
Recent history suggests the Reds are screwed. Over the last five seasons, the Reds have a 16-35 (.314) record on the Left Coast.
 
In ’06 they were tied for first before embarking on a 10-game stretch in the West Coast. A 2-8 trip later, they were six games behind and the season was essentially finished.
 

The official deadline for draft pick signings around Major League Baseball has come and gone. The Washington Nationals got their number one pick, and shockingly, the Los Angeles Dodgers got theirs too.

This year's draft class brings a small glimmer of hope to an emotionally depleted Dodgers organization and its legion of faithful fans.

HOUSTON: The Mets will continue their four-game series in Houston tonight, seeking to win back-to-back road games. The last time they accomplished the feat was June 17-18 against the Indians and Yankees.

More importantly, the Mets need to win two more games in this series to secure their first NL road series win of 2010. Yes, that's right, they have only won two Interleague road series this season.

Fresh off an unacceptable loss to the Kansas City Royals on Sunday afternoon, the New York Yankees arrived back home to face the Detroit Tigers for a four-game set.

Instead of keeping the Tampa Bay Rays at bay, the Yankees lost to the Tigers 3-0, but that is just the icing on the cake.

With the playoff races heating up, and everything starting to take shape, I am here to put in my opinion on who will win each MLB division, who will win each pennant, and who will win the Fall Classic.

The only division in the MLB right now with possibly a clear outlook is the AL West, but anything can happen.

I'll keep it short and sweet, so here we go.

It was a long time coming, but according to reports, that Jays have signed their first-round pick Deck McGuire to a $2 million contract.

McGuire, who has drawn comparisons to Red Sox pitcher John Lackey, was a standout pitcher for Georgia Tech in college. At 6'6", 225 lbs, he already has a MLB-ready body, now it's time to harness his ability and learn some control.
