Chicago Cubs: Thomas Diamond Has Short Outing in 6-3 Loss to Cardinals


The Cubs starter Thomas Diamond suffered another short outing in St. Louis tonight.  He only lasted four innings yielding four runs and six hits.  In his previous match against Cincinnati, he was pulled after three frames. 

Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols had three hits, including a home run to lift the Cardinals past the Cubs 6-3 in the opener of the three-game series.

Rockies-Brewers: Coors Field Drama Continues in Colorado Victory

The Coors Field Rockies showed up for their brief home stand on Friday night.

Down 4-2 in the eighth inning, Troy Tulowitzki crushed a line drive to left field that hit off the glove of Ryan Braun and into the first row of seats, giving the Rockies a 5-4 lead that Huston Street made stand in the ninth.

What makes the Rockies a completely different team at home than on the road is a mystery.

Well, I am here to talk about the AL MVP race and who I think will win it.

As of right now, the two main candidates for the AL MVP are obviously Miguel Cabrera and Josh Hamilton. They are both having outstanding season for the teams which are both in playoff races.

Alot of people think it's all about the batting statistics that determines the Most Valuable Player, but that is not true.

Oakland Athletics Continue To Embarrass Themselves at the Plate

The Oakland A's came off home series against Texas where the A's with runners in scoring position managed to go for 0-30, but somehow were still able to take win two games of the three game series. 

At that point it looked like it was a turning point of the season for the A's because they gained ground on the Texas Rangers in the American League West division race and had a chance with the Rangers having an off-day to even gain further ground.

For the Oakland A's the team has a ton of talented starting pitchers and one of those pitchers is Gio Gonzalez. The word to describe his season so far has been inconsistent at one point he looked like the ace for the A's and other times he's struggled mightily. 

Looking at his numbers before tonights game he's got a record of 10-7, with a 3.51 ERA, has started 23 games, has one complete game, and has struck out 114 while walking 62 hitters.

Mets' Francisco Rodriguez, Despite Troubles, May Hold Key to the Season

Francisco Rodriguez's recent altercation at Citi Field with his girlfriend's father may have come as a surprise to many around baseball.

But his downhill spiral has not.

K-Rod's most recent mess-up only sheds light on the fact that he has been disappointing this whole season. But that was just on the field. Now he's decided to blow it off the field as well.

Yesterday news broke that Atlanta Braves third baseman Larry "Chipper" Jones had torn his ACL and would require season-ending surgery. Recovery time for the surgery is about six months, so if all goes well, Jones would be ready in time for the start of the 2011 season.
