Chicago White Sox Closer News: Bobby Jenks' Role in Doubt

Ozzie Guillen was candid after last night’s loss to the Seattle Mariners, with Bobby Jenks allowing two ER on three hits over just 0.1 innings.

Stats: Jesus Montero Is So Hot Right Now

Some of the Yankees executives were upset with the Mariners for backing out of the Cliff Lee trade that would have sent Jesus Montero to Seattle, but it’s starting to look like maybe they should be thanking them instead. Montero is on fire!

Here are his numbers for July:

15 G, 50 AB, 14 R, 21 H, 4 2B, 4 HR, 11 RBI, 13 BB, 7 SO, .420 BA, .531 OBP, .740 SLG, 1.271 OPS.

MLB Preview: Series to Watch This Weekend

Major League Baseball is running a full schedule again this weekend.  There are some interesting matchups that will probably have an influence on who will make the playoffs and who will not.  These are my picks of the week:

Los Angeles Angels (51-46) at Texas (55-40)

Pete Rose Jr. Now Hitting Coach

2010 is the first year since 1959 that Pete Rose or Pete Rose Jr. hasn’t either played or managed in a baseball game.

That is impressive that a father and son have worn a professional baseball uniform for 50 years. Pete Rose Sr. may have played the game better, but they both had a burning desire to play baseball.

Pete Rose Jr. is not playing organized baseball for the first time since 1989. He made his only appearance in the major leagues for the Cincinnati Reds in 1997, playing in 11 games and making 16 plate appearances while hitting .143.

Charlie Manuel Makes a Critical Mistake in Loss to Cards

In the top of the seventh inning of the Phillies' 5-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals Wednesday night, the Phillies had runners on first and second with two outs and Carlos Ruiz at the plate.

Recognizing this, the Cardinals elected to have pitcher Jaime Garcia work around Ruiz, walk the bases loaded, and go after pitcher Joe Blanton hitting in the ninth hole.

Keep in mind that at this point the score was only 1-1.

MLB: Roy Oswalt, Dan Haren, or Bust for the Phils?

All the clamor as of late has been for the Phillies to go out and add another starting pitcher, possibly even one with "ace" qualities. While I'm not exactly a proponent of the move , it looks like that's inevitably what's going to happen.

Jamie Moyer is Out, Vance Worley Is in for Phillies

Jamie Moyer, who had to leave Tuesday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals in the first inning after injuring his elbow, is headed to the disabled list. And, by the sounds of it, he'll be there for quite some time.

Skipper Charlie Manuel compared the injury to J.A. Happ's—an injury that sidelined Happ since April 16th and only has him scheduled to return to the rotation on Saturday. Given Moyer's age, it likely means we've seen the last of him for the 2010 season.

Bobby Ojeda Criticizes Mets Jerry Manuel in SNY Post-Game Show

After the Mets were swept last night by the Diamondbacks, SNY Mets post game co-host Bobby Ojeda issued several loud criticisms of Mets Manager Jerry Manuel.

Suggesting that Manuel's consistent re-ordering of the batting lineup throughout the season has contributed to the Mets offensive slump, Ojeda then went on to say that he thought Manuel demonstrated a counterproductive lack of confidence in his players.

Ojeda on the Mets recent offensive struggles:

2010 MLB Trade Rumors: Any Team for L.A. Dodger Manny Ramirez?

The Los Angeles Dodgers are quickly letting the 2010 season slip away. They have few options for trade bait and haven't been seriously included in many trade talks.

Perhaps the biggest name on the roster, left fielder Manny Ramirez, is currently sitting out with his third stint on the disabled list this season, diminishing his trade value even more.

It is clear Ramirez is showing his age.

New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angel-Style Baseball

The New York Yankees were elated to get the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim out of the Bronx as fast as possible, after beating them 10-6 Wednesday afternoon.

The Angels got a taste of their own medicine after dominating the Yankees the night before.
