Are The Minnesota Twins Interested in Andy LaRoche?

Pirates prized prospect Pedro Alvarez had been called up by the team this week, and will probably replace Andy LaRoche.

Alvarez, 23, is a power hitting 3rd baseman, who can be a threat every at bat at the big league level but is very weak when it comes to defense.

He reminds us of a somewhat Adam Dunn, who is a power hitter, yet isn't the greatest fielder (I mean years ago, he has gotten better this year). Also, Dunn and Alvarez both strike out often.

With Pittsburgh needing help at this point, they called up the young 3rd baseman.

New York Yankees: My First Trip to Yankee Stadium An Interesting Experience

After I finished my work in the office, I hopped on a New York City subway train and headed N orth towards the Bronx.

I was on my way to my first ever New York Yankees game.

AJ Burnett to Face Off Against the Ageless Jamie Moyer in Game Two

The Yankees will probably not take a different approach to Game Two of their World Series rematch with the Phillies tonight.

Phillies starter Jamie Moyer has been up and down this season including a complete game, but has since returned to his inconsistent form.

The Yankees' AJ Burnett was stellar against the Phillies in the postseason, and it will be interesting to see how amazing he may look if the Phillies bats don't show up—much like they have done all season.

Yankees-Phillies: CC Sabathia and Company Patiently Defeat Roy Halladay

The Yankees made the right move by not moving against their longtime foe, Roy Halladay. The former Blue Jays ace and now Phillies pitcher was dealing, but at the wrong spots.

The Yankees took the bad pitches and were able to get ahead in the count and ahead in the game.

The Yankees chose to wait for their perfect pitch, and it paid off. There were three home runs off the bats of Curtis Granderson, Nick Swisher, and Mark Teixeira.

Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts: 6/15/10

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

The Best of the Best: Yankees Mount Rushmore

In honor of the year Robinson Cano is having (.368 Batting Average, 13 Home Runs, 47 RBI), it got me thinking that if Cano keeps this pace up, where will it rank amongst the greatest Yankee seasons of all-time?

We still got a long ways to go, and there's still a lot of baseball to be played, so I will re-address that question towards the end of the season.

Fantasy Baseball: Top 15 Second Basemen for 2011: An Extremely Early Look

Let’s continue to look at our early 2011 rankings by turning our attention to second base.  It’s certainly not a deep position after the first seven names or so, but there certainly are some interesting names on the list:

Yankees Twin Towers, Betances and Brackman, are Back!

Andrew Brackman and Dellin Betances stand at 6-foot-10 and 6-foot-8 respectively, and it is their size and their high ceilings that have earned them the nickname the “Twin Towers.”
