Here’s a look at some unheralded players who played well yesterday.

 

Randy Wolf, Milwaukee Brewers

Wolf threw six scoreless innings as the Brewers pounded the Pirates. He improved to 2-1 with a 3.70 ERA.

 

Mitch Talbot, Cleveland Indians

Talbot improved to 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA after holding the Twins to one unearned run over six innings. He gave up just two hits.

 

Jim Edmonds, Milwaukee Brewers

Edmonds went 4-for-6 with two runs, two doubles, a HR, and three RBI. He’s hitting .341.

 

Carlos Gomez, Milwaukee Brewers

Gomez went 2-for-5 with three runs and a SB (fifth) to raise his average to .262.

 

Dallas Braden, Oakland A’s

Braden pitched well again. He gave up two runs in six innings to beat the Yankees and improve to 3-0 with a 2.77 ERA.

 

Livan Hernandez, Washington Nationals

He took the loss (hey, he faced Ubaldo Jimenez) but went eight innings, allowing two runs on four hits with five Ks. Livan is 2-1 with a 0.75 ERA.

 

C.J. Wilson, Texas Rangers

Wilson threw 6.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits, to beat the Red Sox. He’s now 1-1 with a 1.37 ERA.

 

Clay Buchholz, Boston Red Sox

Buchholz took the loss after allowing three runs over 6.2 innings, but he whiffed 10 Rangers.

 

Juan Castro, Philadelphia Phillies

Castro went 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. He’s hitting .353.

 

Martin Prado, Atlanta Braves

Prado is hitting .417 after going 3-for-5.

 

Jamie Moyer, Philadelphia Phillies

Moyer gave up two unearned runs over six innings to improve to 2-1 with a 5.00 ERA.

 

Orlando Cabrera, Cincinnati Reds

Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI to raise his average to .262.

 

Marlon Byrd, Chicago Cubs

Byrd continued his recent tear, going 3-for-4 with a run to bring his average up to .311.

 

Ike Davis, New York Mets

Davis went 3-for-4 with two runs. He’s hitting .400.

 

Anibal Sanchez, Florida Marlins

Sanchez gave up one run in 6.2 innings to beat the Astros and improve to 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA.
