Get Your Facts Straight: Ignorant, Misinformed Fans Run Rampant

I found this lovely tidbit on Braves.com in the comments section of a Mark Bowman article:

"ok finally first off i'd like to say its good the braves one.. As a sports analyst myself i have come to realize that the braves could have had more wins up till now in this season had they had a healthy anderson and mac.. hopefully they will come back the latter is more probable to produce for this team that being brian McCann.. Anderson is like 37 and in my opinion not the answer we really need right now.. its a good thing that diaz is in there because he has what we need right now... although diaz is good i would not plan on putting him in every game this season.. therefore, i believe the braves should go ahead and trade brandon jones to the whitesox in exchange for jermaine dye.. i dont know if anyone remembers but the whole javier vazquez trade initially had brent lillibridge and jo-jo reyes going to chicago in exchange for Jermaine Dye and Javier Vazquez along with other unknown players... that deal never did happen because Chicago DID NOT want to part ways with DYE.."

Absolutely amazing.

How you are so misinformed and unrealistic while calling yourself a fan is truly beyond belief.

I'm going to pick through this comment briefly.

First, "one" should be "won," which, as such a great analyst of all things sports, this guy really should have caught.

Second, "the braves could have had more wins up till now in this season had they had a healthy anderson and mac..." Really?  I don't think that I really could've caught that.

In my opinion, the terms of use policy on MLB.com should start out:

1.  If it's obvious, don't comment acting like an idea of your's is really that original UNLESS you input an insightful slant.

Third, this "fans" analysis on the Vazquez trade.

I recall vividly in an interview after the trade with Frank Wren, the Braves GM said that talks started out around Boone Logan. The trade grew from there and eventually ended with the Braves shipping Tyler Flowers, Brent Lillibridge, and others to the White Sox in exchange for Logan and Javy Vazquez.

Add to this the suggestion of Brandon Jones for Jermaine Dye, straight-up.

OK, why would the White Sox trade a guy in April for so little when when they could've, as this guy said, had two or three above-average prospects that are close to being productive at the Major League level?

Look, I dont mind if you are a casual sports fan.  This group makes up the majority of sports fans and allows teams like the Yankees and Red Sox to fill up their stadiums and garner nationwide support.

BUT, if you are a fan of the casual variety, don't call yourself an analyst and puff out your chest as a superior when you DON'T KNOW YOUR FACTS.

I'm not calling myself the greatest thing to ever write on a sports platform, but I am calling people that do (outside of Peter Gammons), for lack of a better term, stupid.

Don't fill up message boards/comment sections with useless jargon that distorts the credibility of people who know what they're talking about.

(This song is dedicated to the people who care about sports having to deal with the casual fan's uneducated statements.)

We're Not Gonna Take It
Twisted Sister

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

We've got the right to choose and there ain't no way we'll lose it
This is our life, this is our song
We'll fight the powers that be just, don't pick our destiny 'cause
You don't know us, you don't belong

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

Oh, you're so condescending, your gall is never ending
We don't want nothin', not a thing, from you
Your life is trite and jaded, boring and confiscated

If that's your best, your best won't do

Oh
Oh
We're right, yeah
We're free, yeah
We'll fight, yeah
You'll see, yeah

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

No way

Solo - Eddie

Oh
Oh
We're right, yeah
We're free, yeah
We'll fight, yeah
You'll see, yeah

We're not gonna take it
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore

We're not gonna take it (no)
No, we ain't gonna take it
We're not gonna take it anymore (just you try and make us)

We're not gonna take it (come on)
No, we ain't gonna take it (you're all worthless and weak)
We're not gonna take it anymore (now drop and give me twenty)

We're not gonna take it (a pledge pin)
No, we ain't gonna take it (on your uniform)
We're not gonna take it anymore
