My Thoughts On The 2010 New York Mets: Shortstop

One of the most crucial injury's last year was at shortstop.  All-Star shortstop, Jose Reyes had his season end early.  A hamstring injury sidelined him for the majority of the season.

Reyes is one of the key parts of the Mets offense.  He acts like the spark plug for the Mets.  When he hits, the Mets hit and they usually win.  When he doesn't hit, the Mets don't hit and they usually lose.  That's how things worked out for the Mets most of the time when Reyes is healthy.

For some reason, many Mets fans have been in favor of trading the young Jose Reyes.  I have no idea why anybody would want to trade Reyes.  He is, pretty much, the heart of the New York Mets.

He's one of the most exciting players to watch, and the Mets desperately need his personality back in the clubhouse. One of the many problems with the Mets this season is that they lacked heart, that couldv'e been because Jose Reyes wasn't around the team for most of the season.

Reyes isn't just a great asset in the clubhouse, he is also one of the best hitters in the league.  His speed also creates mayhem for all teams.  It's a pitchers worst nightmare when Reyes is on base.

I have been hearing that Reyes will never reach his potential and many other bad things about him.  I really don't get why people are getting on Jose.  He is an amazing young player, and every team would love to have him on their team and in their clubhouse.

In New York this stuff can happen.  A player has one injury plagued season and his career is over.  Reyes had successful surgery a couple of weeks ago and his doctors say that he should be ready for training camp in February.

I think that Jose Reyes really matured this year.  He learned a lot of things and I look for him to come back strong next year.

I also think that Reyes is going to be smarter in games next year.  By smart, I mean that he would hustle more and just have more knowledge on the game of baseball, and almost all the great players have great knowledge of the game.

I think that all Mets fans should embrace Reyes and great things will show.  Jose Reyes is one of the best players in the game.  He is an incredibly gifted young man and all Mets fans must recognize that.
