Ryan Perry: Reason For Hope

Ryan Perry is giving hope to Tiger fans across Michigan. The confidence he's displayed and trust he's gained from manager Jim Leylend is more than any reliever did all of last season. Even as a rookie, Perry shows the confidence of a proven veteran.

In an impressive 8-2 victory over Seattle on Sunday, Perry topped the radar gun at times by hitting 100 mph, and would follow up these pitches with 85 mph change-ups.

His line for Sunday's game was impressive: 2/3 innings pitched, 19 pitches, 13 for strikes, two hits, one earned run, and one strikeout.

Perry continues to be Leylend's first option in the bullpen when a critical hold is needed. His numbers on the season are also impressive. In five games pitched this season totaling 3 2/3 innings, he has one hold, two hits (0 before today), one earned run, three walks, four strikeouts, and a 2.45 era.

With numbers like these Perry is sure to keep the confidence of Leylend as a late inning option to keep the game close. Ryan Perry is one sure reason for Tiger fans to have hope in 2009.
