San Diego Padres Notes: Kevin Correia, Kelly Johnson, Kevin Kouzmanoff

With the arbitration deadline set for 8:59pm PST, the San Diego Padres are going to try and work out a deal with right hander Kevin Correia.

If they're unable to do that, according to MLB.com's Corey Brock, the Padres will attempt to trade him instead of letting him go for nothing. Problem with that notion is, why would any team trade for Correia if they know they can sign him without giving up another player?

The Atlanta Braves are trying to unload second baseman Kelly Johnson prior to the arbitration deadline, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports . It's no secret that the Padres are looking for infield help to backup shortstop Everth Cabrera and current second baseman David Eckstein.

If I'm the Padres, and I know the Braves are looking for pitching help as well, why not help each other out?

Third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff and pitchers Heath Bell and Mike Adams were all offered arbitration, but it's not known whether all three players accepted.

There have been no new developments on the trade front with either Kouzmanoff or first baseman Adrian Gonzalez.

The Boston Red Sox will have a hole at first or at third base, depending on where they slot Kevin Youkilis, but don't count on the Padres sending Adrian Gonzalez that way.

ESPN.com's Jayson Stark has already reported that the Padres don't seem to be motivated at all to trade their All-Star first baseman unless they're overwhelmed by a deal that they can't turn down.

New Padres' broadcaster Dick Enberg, going into his first season behind the mic for San Diego, will be inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame.

Enberg is a 14-time Emmy Award winner, nine-time Sportscaster of the Year award winner, and the only person ever to win National Emmy Awards as a sportscaster, writer, and producer. In 1998, Enberg became just the fourth sportscaster ever to get his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Also, Jerry Coleman will be awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 60th Annual Golden Mic Awards which will take place on Jan. 23rd in Los Angeles.
