Sammy Sosa is the latest name to be dropped in baseball's steroid era. With so many of these people being linked to steroids, it's really no longer news when another name is dropped.
But it gets some people, like myself, thinking that these guys are not the idols and role models we thought they were. Plus, any records guys like Bonds, Sosa, McGwire, A-Rod, Clemens, and any others should not be given credit for any of the records they broke.
That would mean Barry Bonds would no longer hold either the single season or career home run records, those records would be given back to Roger Maris and Hank Aaron.
I would also take away the records of both Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire breaking the single season home run record in the summer of love in 1998.
All these guys juiced up to earn more money and fame, but all it earned them was shame and infamy. These guys should be stripped of any records, banned from the game of baseball and banned from ever having a chance to get into the Hall of Fame.
There are more deserving guys for the Hall of Fame, including Bert Blyleven and Pete Rose.
Blyleven has two World Series titles, 3,701 strikeouts (Fifth all-time), and 242 complete games in 692 games (that's 35 percent), a number that's completely unheard of nowadays.
Pete Rose holds the career records for hits with 4,256, at-bats with 14,053, and games played with 3,562.
He may have bet on baseball games as a manager, but he still has Hall of Fame worthy numbers, and he never cheated as a player, unlike the guys who used steroids and cheated as players.
